It depends on the material it contains. It can get as many colors as the materials are!

Since the rag gets black....I would assume that is the color or dark grey

Household dust contains a large percentage of dead skin cells that are shed daily. The dust in our house is normally light gray.

Where I live it's a sandy brown colour. It's incredibly finely powdered Saharan sand. You can see hundreds of miles of it in the pictures. Fortunately it's unusual for the wind to come from that direction.

I have read somewhere that the main component of dust, about 70%, is actually dead skin flakes of people that were in the area. So i guess it would be white, i am not being racist its just that dead skin of african americans is also white as it has lost its pigment. All the other stuff in the air makes dust turn black or a dirty color when you see it after you clean it off with a rag.

Mine is grey, occasionally leaning to the white side it seems toward summer.
