Whether or not the book will be adapted to film remains a matter of speculation. When asked whether there would be a movie adaptation of Eldest at the premiere of Eragon, Christopher Paolini replied, "I think we'll know after opening weekend." Since the opening weekend passed, Paolini has not commented. As of 2008, there are no plans for Eldest being made into a movie.

My friend and I think that the movie, eldest, will be just as good as the first one. Possibly even better. Make sure you see the second movie when it comes out because it is gonna rock!

I can't believe those who think that the movie was good. the only way they could have thought it was good is if they havn't read the book. I personally hope that they will not come out with a second movie. It's a descrase to the greatest book ever made. if they ARE going to make another one, the only thing i will be looking forward to is Seeing Murtagh and his new dragon, Thorn.

personally i think they should just quit while there ahead the first movie although it may seem fine to those who havnt read the book those of us who have know that it was so far off from the book you felt as if you where watching something totally diffrent if the second one was to come out i have no doubt it would be the same which is disrespectful to the author so just leave eragon alone if you want a sequel read the book but only after you read the first one dont go by the movie it will only confuse you

I only liked it compared to the books because it had Jeremy Irons in it, and he was the only one who gave the characters any justice. And Murtagh was hot. :P

I have personally never read the books but from what I saw in the first movie of eragon it did seem that there are alot of things missing which could have given it more substance. I mean fanatsy stories in 1h30 min is a joke. So I will agree with the greater part that the movie was not a grade A or brilliant. But lets be honest they tried their best and the movie makers did succeed on playing everyones mind the bond bewteen a dragon and his rider which was nice. But again the emotional aspect of how the boy reacts in the movie to all that happens around him in my eyes is unrealistic. And if that is from the book then shame on the writer too. Besides fanatsy books are just what they are and for those who say its the best book ever, please. And don't be so judgemental perhaps the next movie might follow a stricter line and show more detail to what is in the book. In all I am curious to what happens next. Before throwing the first stone write your own book/script and see how good you are at it before you critisise other people. None of us is brilliant. A fair game is hard to play when there are idiots on both teams who believe they are god.

The say it will most likely come out at early 2012 but it hasn't become official yet. Sorry that's all i can tell you.

LOVED THE BOOKS..... ...BUT... All those who do not like obsessive fan girl rants....plz avert thine eyes... In the Eragon Movie,They did not show the shattering of the Star Sapphire, Eragon's battle with Durza was ALL WRONG, they didn't show how Oromis saved Eragon, the disapperance of Murtagh and the Twins (who weren't even in the movie), they did'nt even get Arya right, and i could go on and on but i really don't think you want to hear me rant more than this...but yes...book's EPIC...movie EPIC FAIL! The Eldest movie would be *pukes*...srry...cant even say how gawd awful it would be... considering they completely screwed up the first movie. I mean, they would have to completely redo the first movie to make the second one even close to presentable...so...i don't even think there will be a second movie....PLZ GAWD NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Currently 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the movie. They made the first movie, and it was a minor success making 250ML at the box office, whilst the film cost 130ML to make. As of now, 20 Century has not released any new information on the subject of Eldest being made into a movie. They have stated, in the past, that their would be a movie eventually, but there has been no new information. The movie was said to have been in the making this year, 2009, but that was just a rumor. The release of the movie is unknown as of now.
