Why are all these ants in my house? It's midwinter in CA? Why are they in the bathroom? There is nothing to eat in there.

they are looking for water. Or maybe they thought you were going to open a day spa for ants.

perhaps they have come to wash their hair or perhaps one needed to use to loo.

Maybe their waiting on you to get them their own lil roach motel or a nice line of white powder(boric acid) to get their party started. They are hard to get rid of sometimes. Maybe you have an unseen water leak & they are making their new home there.
