The reason it is always cold in movie theaters is because it is far too much open space to heat properly. The movie theaters will set their thermostats to a set temperature and just let the machines work.

Another reason is the fact that body heat can artificially raise the temperature in the theater. A full theater will not seem as cold as a sparsely attended one even though the temperature would be the same for both. They want you comfortable, they want you to come back and it is far easier to keep you comfortable cooler than hotter.

I reason it's so cold in cinemas is because there is no sunlight, no windows, and the room is kept as dark as possible.
