I always thought it smelled like vomit.
-
Yeah, but it's good on pasta.
-
No, it's just you. It smells and tastes rather good.
-
I think cumin smells like unwashed socks.
-
It is funny, just the other day my ten year old son made the statement that Parmesan smelled like his Dad's dirty socks!
-
Many cheeses smell like feet; but the stronger the scent, the more delicious the flavour is.
-
Yeah that's why I like it ;-)
-
Personally I do not like Parmesan, but I would be offended if somebody told me my feet smelled like any cheese.
-
Not as much as Limberger cheese!

If it smells that strong, you are not getting good (or real) parmesan. Parmesan Reggiano has very little smell. A bit of a pungent, salty, milky smell. Also, you can tell if it's good by the texture. If it is soft, forget it, if it looks like a hard brick that could be used as a cutting block, you found the real thing. Remember, Reggiano is the region of Italy that parmesan was created. I always smell my cheese before I buy it. There are some cheeses that have been developed to have an extreme, pungent smell/taste. The only cheeses that I will eat that have that "tang/smell" are bleu's

You know what's even more strange? Your feet smell like Parmesan Cheese...
-
LOL. Yes, I have. In fact, my kids and I call it feet cheese.
-
That may be true of some lower quality Parmesan cheese but the real stuff, especially Parmesan Reggiano, doesn't smell very strongly at all. It's so nice and dry there is little odor that comes from it. I notice it a bit when I grate or shave it but it doesn't remind me of socks at all.
-
Yes feet and also a horse's stable.
-
Who cares? When it hits the hot buttered spaghetti, it tastes great!
-
Haha, my son (5 yrs old) calls it "stinky cheese". We get some strange looks in restaurants. LOL!
-
Weird. I always thought FEET smelled like Parmesan Cheese.
-
