skip the channell.
-
I watch the fun ones, but as a rule I get up and do something else while they are on.
-
Usually I ignore them but some of them actually catch my attention!!
-
I either leave the room, switch channels or laugh at how bad they are.
-
I generally ignore them. Many shows I enjoy watching I record so I can fast forward through them.
-
I have a DVR and what I don't tape I pause until I have enough so I can fast forward through the commercials. I HATE THEM!!!
-
A few hours ago I asked a question about hitchhikers, Axes and powersaws so they must have some kind of affect on me.......
-
Record & fast forward, only way to go :)
-
Mostly ignore, but there's one I mute because it sends the blood pounding directly to my forehead, directly to my forehead, directly to my forehead!
-
-
AnonymousPlease share the ad you hate, describe it. :))
-
-
I pay attention to most of them, especially the clever and/or humorous ones. the aforementioned "Activon" commercial drives me crazy, though!
-
Sky+ over them at 30 speed.
-
I sing along with the cool ones that have a song that I know, and mute the rest =)
-
I hate them, but my 6yr. old is paying attention. He wanted me to buy Clorox last week. I asked him why and he said because it gets out stains. Thought this was strange until I walked in his room to clean up and he had spilled red juice on his carpet.

hahaha, cute!
-
-
I sing along with the jingles if they are catchy and mimic the actors if they are annoying. "Wow, this really does clean stains! It almost looks new!"
-
Why do you think all remote controls are equipped w/ a mute button?(too bad it never worked on my ex)
-
Sometimes I pay attention, but if I start seeing the same ad over and over, than I will mute or change the channel.
-
I either change the channel or get up and do something else until the show comes back on.
-
depends on the ads.... some are great and funny ...the way they all should be ...
-
I ignore them by watching 10 min of TV a month, except when I walk on the treadmill at work, where there's a cable TV, so I flip the channels. (For me, the only thing worse than watching TV is walking on the treadmill without it.)

yes, time flys when the tv is the distraction.

I LOVE tv ads that are funny...here is a few of my faves.. http://veryfunnyads.com/ads/25463.html http://veryfunnyads.com/ads/25481.html
-
I try very hard to make sure I watch them and observe what the bigger chains are doing.
-
Mute City all the way
-
I usually DVR the shows that I want to watch to AVOID the ads, but if I am watching something like football, I mute it because the noise of the TV, my 3 y/o, & my hubby make me insane.
-
Commercials don't bother me, I'll pay attention to them if I haven't seen them before. Plus, if it's a commercial about a toy, my kids practically FORCE me to watch so they know without a doubt they definitely want that toy. Television paid advertisements though, I just ignore, don't even watch them.
-
We cut the cable cord Jan. 2006. No tv except when on the treadmill at the gym. Then I'm amazed at all the drug commercials.
-
OOH. popular string. I hate some love some. JACK IN THE BOX always has my attention
-
I watch them because some of them are better than the programmes, like this one.
-
-
Anonymous
which one?
-
-
I used to make commercials for radio and television. I honestly can not stand to watch or listen to them.
-
Depends on what the ad is about!
-
channel surf
-
Some ads are as entertaining as the programs I'm watching. It's a pretty small percentage though. If I'm not entertained, I flip through the other channels. The advertisers really need to give more thought to how they are spending/wasting their advertisement dollars, if they want my attention for their products.
-
It's mixed. I pay attention to some, especially humorous ones.
-
LOL..the only thing I do watch on TV are the ads that my daughter is in.
-
I bust my knuckles muting as quickly as I can.
-
You've gotta have Sky+ (or Tivo, or something similar) then, pause the TV the during the first set of Ads - this gives you enough recorded time so that whenever subsequent Ad breaks appear you can fast-forward through them. We never watch any Ads any more.
-
There's no way that huge companies would spend millions of dollars on ads if they didn't get results. But most people don't really understand the purpose of TV ads. Surprisingly enough - it's not to sell products most of the time. It's to build something called "brand awareness." That simply means that you're aware of that brand out there - and you have an image in your mind about what that brand is all about. So people think if they see and ad and they don't go out immediately and buy it's a loss. Not so. Advertisers know that it takes a lot longer than that and patiently keep hammering away on our psyche until we either consciously decide the product being advertised is not for us - or, we buy.
-
Overall, they work. Otherwise no one would pay for them. To your question, I think more people are ignoring them.
-
I pay attention only when ads are funny or if I see them for the first time. But mostly, I do something else, i don't watch them.
-
My husband mutes about half of them.
-
I love that mute button thingy.
-
They go in one ear and out the other....My own internal mute system..lol
-
I won't watch any program here in the US that has commercials, unless they're strictly limited, such as on BBC World.
-
Most of the time I will watch them since I am a student of Media Literacy. However, If I am watching BRAVO TV, then I tend to ignore them since you see the same ads 4x an hour.
-
Mute or fast forward recorded ones.
-
If the ads come on I switch channels and then go back again after they are done.
-
PAYING ATTENTION IS ALREADY TOO EXPENSIVE
-
If I'm watching a program on t.v. I usually mute the commercials or change channels if I'm keeping up with a game or something. If I've recorded a program I fast-forward through them completely.
-
I simply click the button to see another channel. Quite frankly, TV ads are a bit idiots. Why? They are a passive advertising method and 100% untargeted. Just my opinion...
-
I do pay attention to ads since i am taking a marketing communications course. but when i've already evaluated them, i already switch to other channels or just ignore them especially if the ad is not really entertaining...
-
I record/pause live television on my computer. And fast forward through the commercials.
-
I pretty much ignore them. They rely on impulse buying. You see it, you think "wow, got to have it" and you run out and spend precious money on something that doesn't deliver.
-
I mute them
-
I ignore, mute and/or pause then fast forward past them. In my opinion most commercials are geared to the same pathetic part of our society that worships Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and the other celebrities that seem to dictate how to live your life. And while on the subject of TV what the heck is Oprah's talent anyway? I still can't figure it out.
-
Nope...that is intermission for me....bathroom and refill the beer time...;)
-
Ignore, change channel... i don't know how people can find entertainment in being manipulated.
-
Usually I just ignore them.
-
i sometimes pay attention, just because. And sometimes my mind wonders off during ads
-
well i don't know..
-
i mute them ha!
-
I usually watch them instead of the show, especially if their for things like feed the children, or drunk driving commercials...OK I just realized how strange I am....its not that I like them they just 'move' me.
-
i hate the stupid hawk shop commercial
-
infomercials are engaging because they're more professionally produced
-
I ignore most of them because they all seem like they only make sense to the idiot who created them, or they're just stupid.
-
some ads are good to watch and some are soo adult in nature that we cannot watch it with family. So i thik the best way is to see ads in some famous classifieds websites like http://craigslist.com, http://www.hindlist.com , http://www.kijiji.com
-
i love adverts, but some are awful and unwatchable!!
-
The TV ads have gotten so clever that I find I enjoy them as much as the actual shows. Some are irritating, but the really good ones are worth wading through the garbage. I do tend to reduce the volume as they are usually louder than the shows.
-
Mute them for the most part, or just dont pay attention to them.
-
I watch TV mostly for the ads. I like to analyze them. Watch the ad carefully, try to figure out things like, who is the target audience? What class of people is this ad going to appeal to the most? Who are the people most likely to respond? In so doing, you can get creative for your own ads and get more results with less money invested.
-
No T.V., no ads.
-
I will watch a few and think how stupid.
-
I prefer to fast forward over them
-
I only pay attention to T.V. advertizing if it's the Superbowl and ignore or mute the game.
-
I tend to pretty much ignore them.
-
First thing i do is change the channel till that ads finished :) also, 99 % of that ads selling expired items and fake..... thanks
-
We got rid of cable, and live too far out in the mountains to get anything with an antenna.
-
Thanks to a DVR I try not to even watch ads. Side note. What happen to Super Bowl ads? They actually used to be worth watching. Now they are just regular ads aired during the game. Disappointing.
-
I usually mute them unless its during the SuperBowl then I watch them.
-
Some I do, and some I don't.
-
Usually mute. Rarely pay attention.
-
A DVR = no more commercials ever! Yayyy! ;-)
-
Depends on the ad.
-
commericials are for bathroom breaks, kissing a s/o or grabbing another dt mt dew. +5
-
Most things I watch are prerecorded, so I just fast-forward through the ads. When watching live TV, I'll generally turn the volume down. Even if, ads don't affect me on a consumer level, but I can admire them for their creativity.
-
I'm a channel flipper. I watch two shows at once ...... usually.
-
Ignore or mute them
-
-
Thriftymaid
Howdy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
Usually mute
-
I just laugh threw them while trying to find out which of them had the lowest budget
-
The moment the ads start me and my husband start talking. We sometimes mute but most of the time we igore it or laugh at it.
-
Being a business person, yes I pay attention to T.V ads because they can give us new ideas for advertising or promotions. - www.modell.ca
-
i havent watched tv much lately
-
Only funny ones!
-
I haven't had tv for over 5 years, so the last time I saw a commercial (a year or two ago) I found it entertaining.

I don't remember. Because a lot of times now I forget what I was watching before the ads started.
-
I mostly flip channels or get something to eat.
-
some give you no choice to watch or fast forward
