This is a p.s. to auntie ems answer. by your account number, banks(computers) know the classification of each of its customers. each customer has a rating. this has a purpose. if you deposit a third party check into your personal checking account and you have a high rating with your bank, the amount of the deposited check will immediately show in your checking balance. this, of course, depends on your banks computer system. some computers have instant deposit and withdrawal balances. some older bank computers, take longer, up to three days. my bank has instant balance.
