  • Big Brothers / Big Sisters.
  • St.Jude Children's Research Hospital.
  • I am a worthy cause. Can you donate it to me? I know you were waiting for this answer, don't look so surprised. Okay, now time for the serious answer. If I had extra money I would donate it to Watchtower Bible & Tract Society so they could continue to print Bibles and other Bible educational material to reach people all over the globe with an important message of hope for the future.
  • Children's Hospital. They have a world known one in Phoenix. Most donations for it come from the Shriner's Club.
  • Any cause relating to the health and welfare of children in need :)
  • The United Way. They have an excellent track record and distribute money to a great many other organizations based on need and merit.
  • The Red Cross, because they are always there when we really need them.
  • The Ronald McDonald House. They provide lodging for families of kids in the hospital, so their parents don't sleep in waiting room chairs or go into debt paying for a hotel room. I didn't know it existed until I needed it.
  • I'd search yourself for something(s)about which you are genuinely passionate. For example: are cancer, heart, kidney, or Aids patients important to you? How about homeless children, Katrina survivors, survivors of soldier who gave their lives in Iraq? Do you love your hometown or Alma Mater? Did a particular religious organization help you in a difficult time? Did you love scouting? Once you decide on a cause (or multiple causes) I would suggest that you research each individual charity/potential recipient to determine how each is set up to receive and distribute its charitable contributions. Often, if you give to an "umbrella" organization such as United Way, by the time the administrative fees are deducted, your chosen charity might be lucky to get 10 cents per dollar you donated. If you go directly to the organization chosen, that number will be much higher, and thus, more effective. I'd be glad to help you locate sites to research such information. I think it is wonderful that you are willing to share your money!
  • ... another vote for the Red Cross. __________ I would suggest, rather than donate one large lump sum, open a separate savings account, calculate how much of the interest should be used to pay income tax, and every week, give the remainder ... if they have a constant, continuous donation of the same amount every week forever, it will be better for them and those that they help, in the long run.
  • Savage, my two favorite organizations are www.kiva.org and www.heifer.org because their structure allows our gifts to continue growing and benefiting those most in need. Heifer.org in general provides milk producing livestock to families in the most undernourished areas of the world. They are taught how to care for the animals and even to provide basic veterinary care. As the animals reproduce their young is passed on to other families in need. It is such a beautiful plan to sustain and energise life and learning for children hard hit by starvation and to build self-benefitting communities.
  • This is a wonderful question. I am wondering if Blank was not feeling well when he asked it. What a thoughtful, gentle, generous soul.

  • Help aids in Africa. Or feed the hugry. Fund a research. Give a little to everyone.
  • I have to second the voter that said I am a worthy cause, 4 kids and broke, but we have a roof over our heads so lets see..... Catholic charities Cancer societies - as another voter said, I am passionate about this, I watched my father die from it and would love this disease to have a cure! Children diabetic charities - my niece was diagnosed as a diabetic at 2 years old Aids research charity - seeing reports that 75% of certain schools students have tested HIV positive is scarey! I would myself scout for students who need assistance with college! I always said if I hit the lotto, I would give 25% to a good cause, split 25% with my family and 25% for my kids future funds, and use the last quarter to live and be merry! Just the fact your willing to give is so nice! God Bless you.
  • Red Cross, World Vision, Doctors Without Borders, Salvation Army, ... hey this is hard. I thought I knew more of them than that. Some homeless tramp you meet down the street (but then I don't suppose you'd really want to meet him again ...) Leave some money in an envelope in a poor neighbourhood with "Today is your lucky day" written on it ... ( You don't want to be there when they find it but it's fun to think what will happen when they do. )
  • Kitten calendars, they make people so happy
  • Guide Dogs for the Blind. In Canada, the Lions Foundation based in Oakville Ontario is an organization totally funded by Lions Clubs and donations from others...no government funding. This organizations breeds and trains dogs as guides for blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, and special needs dogs for kids/adults with special physical/cognitive needs. Marvellous organization. Google Lions Foundation for all the details of the terrific work done by the dedicated staff, volunteers and associated Lions Clubs throughout Canada.
  • ronpaul2008 because he is the only presidential candidate that believes in both the constitution, and freedom.
  • If it was me I would visit my local children's ward and make your decision from there, so many hospitals are underfunded, I'm sure they could do with new equipment etc. Or educational tools for your local school, that way children will really benefit from your money through learning.

  • me im so broke
  • Anything noble. make sure what you donate represents who you are.
  • I could fluff my answer, and give you lots of causes that your money would help a great deal. But the truth is when you are looking for something, anything to help you get a foot up in life the last thing you are thinking about is the next guy, maybe because it never happens to people like me. Let's face if I have never had any one give me anything that didn't come with a price or strings. If i had to choose a cause worthy of your donation I selfishly would choose me. If i had the capital things for my family and myself would be so much better. Maybe I could spend more time with them and not killing myself at work six days a week. I don't want to come off like my life is a bad one. It's just hard.
  • Donate it to an individual person. Maybe a homeless person or someone in true need. It will transform their life and they will never forget that there is some good in the world. Most charity organizations will chip away at the sum with administrative costs and fund raising planning costs, charities are surprisingly ineffective at actually changing things. I'm not saying that the organizations are useless, they have transformed the continent of Africa in a short time span, but if all the money given had gone directly to the people, Africa would be much different. Do maximum good with your good intentions, change one life forever and you will change the world.
  • I would suggest that you really think about your concerns and what you really care about. For me, I really care about the suffering of animals because I feel like they do not have a voice in our world. I would donate to the Humane Society. http://www.hsus.org/ Your donation will be used to stop animal cruelty inflicted by individuals and institutions, to rescue and shelter animals during times of disaster, and so much more.
  • I'm surprised that I didn't see "The March of Dimes". Your memory's still alive, Blank.

  • my life
  • The army vetrans fund because it is a problem that doesnt allways get the attention is needs or anything that helps children in need...I think what you are doing is the least selfish thing ive heard in a long time congrats :)
  • I would split the sum into thirds and give a third to help the homeless eg Shelter and a third to help stop violance towards children eg NSPCC and the final third to campaign for the release of innocent prisoners eg the Innocence Project. Its good to know people actually spend their money on something worthwhile rather than blow it all on buying pointless stuff.

  • I think that you should donate it to families that need help due to medical reasons. When a mother or a father become ill, or get injured it impacts the family on so many levels. My husband has had eight surgeries in three and a half years. He was implanted with a experimental supraorbital neural stimulator on October 12, 2007 at the North Shore Medical Center in Lynn, MA by Dr. Julien Vaisman and Dr. Joe Ordia. This implant has saved his life and given our family back an important member of our family. Before the he was implanted he suffered terribly from chronic paroxysmal hemicrania. He was on 42 pills a day with 28 of them being morphine and percoset, and still all he could do was lay in bed and hold his head and cry. The supraorbital stimulator takes away ninety percent of his pain. Implants of this type have been used for years in the back and for occipital nerve blocks. The implant that Jason has is implanted into the right side of his chest and wires are run up his chest, up through his neck and into the front part of his head. They lay across the nerves in the brain that somehow stops the pain messages in his brain from working providing his with amazing relief. I believe that Jason was the 77th person in the world to be implanted with this amazing medical marvel. The company that makes this implant is called Advanced Neuro Stimulation and they have been providing people with hope of life without pain. I do not know if you want to find a good charity or donate to a family, but if you are looking for a family to help you can please help us. My husband got ill six years ago, and was out of work for two years on a medical leave of abscense from his job that he has had for twelve years. I was hurt very badly at work on January 15, 2002, and I was unable to work for years. I fought tooth and nail with workers compensation, but I have never seen a more corrupt system in all of my life. Politics does not hold a candle to the comp system. I was a teaching asst. at a high school in Framingham, MA when a student tried to take his own life. I was able to stop him, but at a dear cost to me and my family. He attacked me kicking me off of my feet tearing my rotator cuff, and destroying the muscle and nerves in my hip. I have done lots of p/t and no longer have to walk with a cane which is great. I have gotten back 60 to 70% of what was taken from me that day, and I am working on the rest. I work now as a school bus driver which is not my dream job, but it helps to pay the bills. Jason(my darling) just had to have surgery on Tuesday for an injury that he sustained when he fell into a pot hole at an apartment complex that we lived at. He broke his ankle and ended up having surgery on that in February of 2008, and unfortunetly he ended up needing knee surgery as well due to his incident. We have a great lawyer from Mitchell and DiSimone in right down town Boston working on the case and we expect a resolution in the case by the end of the year. In the mean time we have to survive! Jason had to return to work today because we have no choice and need to pay the bills, and I feel so bad about that. Between me being attacked at work and becoming completely disabled for five years, Jason coming down ill with chronic paroxysmal hemicrania, and everything else we are hurting. We have two sons, Justin is 22, and Steven is 21 years old. They both graduated from high school and are now working. They have been through so much with us and I would love to take them away somewhere to let them recharge there batteries and just have a good time. I cry when I think of everything that they have seen us go through and I just want to take some of that away. When we settle the lawsuit we are planning on buying a house. Just to throw this in: We aslo testified against a gang that the feds have a federal task force working on. We had installed a surveilance system in our house with exterior cameras, and these cameras caught members of this gang shooting at two people in a car right outside of our house. We turned the tape over to the police and picked out the suspects. We had to move because our landlord defaulted on his loan so we moved to a new apartment. The new landlord proceeded to move in members of the gang that we had just picked out of a line up. Needless to say the gang retaliated against us and attacked my son and his girlfriend, as well as stalked us and made our lives a living hell for six months utill we had to move again. We were asked if we wanted to move far away, but we decided that we were probably safer right here in Marlborough, Ma. So we have lived in our new apartment for fifteen months now, and we have had no further problems with this gangs. A group of gang members were just indicted for witness intimidation, distribution or narcotics, and murder. The day after the landlord moved in the gang members I told him about the whole thing and insisted that they not be allowed to move into the house, they were allowed to move in anyway. I filed a seperate law suit against this landlord for creating a hostile living environment for us to live in which is considered personal injury in this state. We have been through so much together in the twenty four year that we have shared. I could writed a book on just the past eight years of our lives, and first sixteen were just as crazy. I have called a couple of publishing companies to see about hiring a ghost writer to help me write a book, but they want twenty thousand dollars. I have started writing a memoir and I have written about twenty five pages. I guess I will be writing this book on my own, but that is okay with me. I am sorry to ramble to you about some of our lifes experiences, but if you are looking to help someone please help us.
  • I did a year a volunteer work for the homeless and i must say seeing a woman in need of help and pregnant or with a child with no place to go and no hope is enough to break your heart. After years helping the needy the best i can since i have no money and just myself and fund raising i would suggest a homeless shelters for females either pregnant or that have children. Almost all are non-proffit and have a hard time getting help. Just keep in mind that alot of these places are a way to get these ladies back on their feet and give them hope for a future with their child or they would otherwise be lost in most cases.
  • With all the scientific advancements and technology, man is on top of the world really !!! But he has failed to the core since poverty prevails and deprived/orphaned children live yet !!! Children are still deprived of education and it is estimated that 10 million children go to bed without even 2 full meals per day !!! Without basic education they are used for begging in India. Therefore educating the deprived and orphaned children and feeding them and giving them basic health can be the greatest act of humanity and humane gesture at this point of time. I will volunteer this cause in India if you sincerely wish !!! You can start a Charity Trust in India for this great cause in your name. Best Regards, Moses
  • My kids college fund! Do you have any idea how much money an exchange to Japan costs these days? No, im kidding, Im not that selfish... I think that dividing your money up between endangered wildlife and poor children would be a nice balance. Like Rain forest preservation or Panda Care? and empoverished Children's educations? The Hogar Foundation?
  • I wish I was in your position. I would love to be able to donate money to several causes unfortunately I can only donate my time and help raise money for the causes I believe in. Anyway, I think Sheryl had the best advice. Donate to something you feel strongly about but do your homework about the cause you chose to support. I give my time and efforts to Communication Services for the Deaf. They have a program for deaf women who have been a victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. They help them through the legal process. They get them the services they need that otherwise would be very difficult to obtain due to communication differences. I also support Mended Lil Hearts of Tulsa. This is a new chapter and we are hoping to see wonderful things in the future! My nephew has a mended lil heart. We thank god for his life everyday! I'm sure where ever you chose to give you will bless someone's life.
  • If I were in your shoes, the first thing that came into my mind is to give away this money to those victims of calamities. But, I am still trying to figure out things to do what's best. That would be a lot of money but considering the needy in large scale, that money you have is I think still not enough. But if you can make a little effort by going to some thrift shops where almost all needy people or those in financial constraint situation are selling their goods like furniture, old clothing, appliances just to earn fund for their food...and there buying some more goods at cheaper price and selling them to ebay then save your profit and give it to needy people. Hopefully the money you have will even grow larger. By this the help that you can give is sustainable. The more you have the more the people in need you can help.

  • Our small family (Wife, myself,& Dude-the dog)have hit on very hard times. With the cost of everything going up and gas at the price it is;we can no longer afford to make our bills and pay our $600. monthly rent. We have cut every corner that we can, but we just can not stretch our monies any more.I am disabled and we are trying to make it on the $1089. that I recieve from social security disability. If we could just get some help so we could move somewhere with less monthly rent we would probably be able to make it.We are currently one month behind on our rent soon to be two months. I realize this is not really the answer you were expecting, but I really do need help with my finances. If you or anyone else out there can help us through this very difficult time we would be very thankful to you.I have always worked and have never been called lazy,my injuries prevent me from any kind of gainful employment. Please if you can, help us.
