If you get one with bucket seats and a shifter located in the console, be careful when "playing" in the back seat - you'll suddenly find yourself rolling downhill (voice of experience).

Sorry. The Muscle Car era ended in the mid-'70s once oil prices rendered high-performance engines too costly to produce.

"GTO" stands for "The Great One". To give it a one-word nickname as most of the other muscle cars had, "GTO" became "GOAT". It was associated with the animal of the same name which could eat anything. In the GTO's case, "anything on the road". Other muscle cars shortened their names to create nicknames. The Mustang became the "'Stang", the Barracuda became the "'Cuda", and the Corvette became the "'Vette".

Ford Boss 302 Mustang. I bought a 1970 model while I was in Vietnam. It was callipso Coral ( almost an irridescent orange ), had a front spoiler, a rear deck spoiler, and louvers in the rear window. I later had it balanced and blueprinted, put in JR headers, a competition clutch, and torsion bars, and the danged car would jerk the front tires two inches coming off the line at 7,000 rpm. God, I loved that car! : D
-

cant handle the bs that comes with old cars. Give up working on them or buying 2nd hand rooted parts for huge money. A 60's or 70's car is never going to drive like a new car.

For those of you who never grew up in the muscle car era, the term generally applies to mid-1960s through early 1970s American-made high-performance cars. The era ended when the rising price of oil made the production of high-performance vehicles no longer feasible. When the term "muscle car" is used, it almost always denotes the well-known models and only the two-door versions such as Camero, Chevelle, GTO, Firebird, etc, and not one of the sub-models like Biscayne, Impala, Corvair, etc, although any of these could be built into a sub-class muscle car.

Mine was always Pontiac GTO.
