When I see people living in a tent on the foot path what am I meant to do ? Invite them to stay at my house ? Give them money? What do you do? I cant help them if i talk to them they ask for money which I dont have any spare money to give them.

Most people are pretty selective about who they show empathy/sympathy for. Most of us care about the feelings of the people that are important to us, and we show empathy/sympathy for strangers by charity. We can't be expected to try and show everybody that "we care", when we really don't. 12/3/25

I think most people can empathise, but many have also learned the lesson of being burnt, or making things worse by enabling said person not to learn their own lessons, that doesn't mean we shouldn't help, but we should help in our wisdom and capacity.

People are short on empathy these days. Most spend a lot of their time in front of a screen unaware how someone is feeling when in their presence.
