Should I pay this accounting bill?
A couple of weeks ago I had a free initial consultation with an accountant, which he reiterated this to me twice to confirm it was free. I asked him a question regarding taxes, he said he would look into it and get back to me the next day. Late the following afternoon I sent him an email reminding him of the question I asked, which seemed to me for him to find the answer to would be easy, maybe taking 5 or 10 mimutes, as I had dropped off my 2023 tax return and he just wanted to check if we had claimed Capital Cost Allowance on a properly we owned. He did not mention at all about a fee for this, and I assumed it was to conclude our initial free consultation. The next day he answered the question, and sent me an invoice for $650.00 plus tax, which shocked me and he insisted I pay it as he claimed he had to have someone spend two hours to answer my question. I asked him ro eliminate this invoice, or at least cut it in half, but he refused. I sent an email to the company head office, but they would not deal with it. Should I pay this invoice? Am I obligated to? Thank-you.

Go punch the accountants teeth in. Give it the your suposed to help not make it hard and dont bleed me dry. That might teach it deciving people isn't the right thing to do. Maybe dont punch him but scream the roof down let him know you arent happy.
