I can't answer that Shadow, I have two autistic neighbours, and we speak more to each other than any of the other neighbours. Maybe people lack understanding of how autism effects people, there's such a wide spectrum as well.

I have 2 autistic kids in the extended family a granddaughter who is high functioning and fun to talk to, except she has no "filter" over what she says. That has been problematic for her at times. The other is a great nephew who is non vocal and violent. Everybody avoids him. Only speaking for myself, I think the range of the spectrum and where the individual is on it makes them often get ignored. 8/26/24

I don’t mean to sound bad but since he is violent it’s for other people’s safety that they keep their distance. I understand what you’re saying though. I have a cousin who is non vocal and he is severely autistic. I have an understanding of people who are autistic and I pay attention to them. -

The bad thing about the boy is that he seems all smiley and friendly until he suddenly isn't. He's big and strong and his parents allow him to run amok to the point that he's becoming dangerous. He was "man handled" recently by an angry father because the big boy nutted up and got mean with a smaller child. Admittedly, I haven't interacted with many autistic people. -

So his father is the reason why he is violent. That explains it. Is there a reason why you don’t interact with many autistic people? -

No, you misunderstood. The father was not the autistic boys father, he is the father of the smaller boy the autistic boy was beating up. The autistic boys father has always been far too permissive with the boy most of the family thinks. The other father was trying to protect his own child. I don't come into contact with many obvious autistic people. -
