  • Unlike almost all other nations, the US has a very strong, comprehensive, Constitutionally-guaranteed legal freedom of speech, enjoyed as an individual right by all residents of the U.S.A.. * Germany has no such strong "freedom of speech" law, and curbs expression that we Americans term "freedom of speech" in many more ways than the one you mention (in several almost picayune ways, from our American point of view). * I stress that VERY few nations have as strong and as comprehensive legally-guaranteed "freedom of expression" as do Americans. A few have even *greater* freedom of press (France, for example) and quite a few have greater freedom relative to broadcast television, but very few have "freedom of speech" to the same degree as America.
