People will continue to be fickle and yet addicted to media. The technology available will improve but still people will be disappointed by the lack of tasteful uses of the new technology. At some point there will be an implant to beam garbage directly into people's brains (we're already >90% there). It will end up being abused, but maybe eventually it will come around. I expect politics to become even more present in media. I expect there to be more choices for personal entertainment yet somehow far less variety. I hope I'm wrong.

I was thinking more along the lines of overpaid actors being phased out. But I agree with most of what you said. It reminds me of the movie the stream. And unfortunately politics will remain in the media. But I think the variety will become exponential with the internet, you don't have to worry about pleasing the masses if you develop a cult following. And people's interests are so wide and varied they will demand it. But unfortunately most it will not attract a mainstream following. Like the podcast thing.
