  • No Way! I need to go back and check that out.
  • No, I did not know that. I often use that movie as an analogy for various things in society. I relate to the Edward G. Robinson character, I could care less about the hero's trials and tribulations on which the story is based.

I too have used this movie as you have as an analogy. I didn't realize the movie used the date of 2022. Another movie I often use is "On The Beach". This movie is about the world coming to an end after total neucular war started by a small country that had developed their atomic bombs. It didn't say N. Koria but if the shoe fits... It was a very interesting movie but the book was better.

Soylent Green was EG Robinson's last movie.
  • I did not know that. I saw that movie a couple times back in the old days when it came out. I did not remember the year being 2022 though. 11/7/22
  • There was an episode of the Twilight Zone that had a similar storyline. I don't recall the name of it but as the story went, aliens from another planet came to Earth and befriended a small community. There was a language barrier of sorts, but the people of the community made efforts to welcome them. The aliens carried a book that was printed in their own language but the people of Earth couldn't understand what it was about. When a handful of people agreed to go back to the aliens' world, it was discovered at the last minute that the book carried by the aliens was actually a recipe book on ways to prepare humans as food. I can't recall any more than that - it was one of those black-and-white TV episodes from the 1950s. I haven't seen this Soylent Green movie but it sounds similar.

I do remember that episode of Twilight Zone. At the end of the episode, someone runs up to the line of people boarding the spaceship and yells, "it's a cookbook! It's a cookbook!".
