An average Joe or an average person are people who live life with no ambition. They settle for the average things in life such as, average cars (economical), average houses (a hole in the wall, need remodeling), average jobs (flipping burgers or other jobs that don't pay well), while not striving to improve their way of living.

Average Joe example : works 9 5, squeezing out a couple children go on holiday once or twice a year. It's just a blanket statement to describe majority of population. Normal is what we all pretend to be for the first half of our life, and don't give a sh't about for the second! :D
