  • I wonder: what makes you think so? For example: as far as I know, he hasn't had to send additional troops. So: it seems as if the troops that he did send are - in his mind - still sufficient to the task that he has planned for them to accomplish. *** Of course, I could be mistaken. How do you know what his expectations were?

Thumbs up for stopping by and for calling me out for another debate in which you are going to lose and then whine as usual when things don't go your way. To begin, Russia has the second-most-powerful military force in the world, trailing only the US. Volodymyr Zelensky is desperate to arm civilians, even if they have never fired a gun to create the Ukranian resistance. With the Russia-Ukraine war, why is Vladimir Putin NOT meeting his expectations? Go back and read my reference in the question. To mention more expectations, The Russian invasion SHOULD have been a quick possession of Ukraine. The war is going to nearly a month already. I have my opinions, what are yours?

Nice red herring and nice ad hominem. I also can't help but notice that you didn't answer my question.

The reference I asked in my question answers your question. Putin did not expect the war was going to go for nearly a month, it will go for over a month and again that is not what he EXPECTED. So far, nobody in this subject knows the answer to my question. At least DancesWithWolves wonders why the war is NOT going as Putin EXPECTED.
  • This makes me wonder

      Exactly, thanks for sharing!
  • What were Vladimir Putin's expectations? That the Ukrainians would jump up and down and see him as liberator? Perhaps but don't think Putin is foolish enough not to have the contingency plan. You may say that starvation is war crime, but how has Putin's buddy Assad been punished for this. The UN is ineffective and do not forget that Russia as well as China are permanent members of the Security Council. The strategy of surrounding and cutting off the supply of the enemy is an ancient tactic, but still very effective even today. By the time the Yankees took Vicksburg the inhabitant were hiding in caves they dug and boiling shoe leather and if they could get a rat were eating high off the hog.

Thumbs up for your answer. Quote: "What were Vladimir Putin's expectations?" Easy, the whole world knows that Vladimir Putin's expectations to take Ukraine have not gone to plan - since the invasion was supposed to go smoothly and easily. So you tell me what's going on.

Do you think the guys at the Kremlin only plan for the easiest and smoothest of outcomes like the idiots like "Make the Taliban great again" General Milley in the Biden administration? Does it make sense to send in your army into a fortified city or to starve its defenders and wait them out before going in? If you are the attacker which method do you think would cause you fewer casualties? Do not think for a minute that many possible scenarios were not war gamed in preparations. https://www.euractiv.com/section/agriculture-food/news/russia-deliberately-targets-ukraines-food-supply-to-create-hunger-says-commission/
  • He under estimated the Ukraine's' resolve.
