• Given that mp4's are pretty big, 3gp's are pretty small. In my experience they are about 1/10th the size. While this sounds pretty good the pictures they produce are very small, suitable for a cellphone at most, not for a laptop or a TV. If you try to expand them they will be very dull and even grainy. 😗
  • 3GP is basically a version of MP4 optimized for transmission over 3G networks using H.263 compression. Newer video formats using H.264 and H.265 produce higher quality video for the same file size and have largely replaced 3GP.
