What does it mean to you to 'get back to your roots'? Do you like to revisit that era, or would you like to forget it?

Most people use that to mean the place where they were born and raised, where their formative years were spent, often in the vicinity not just of parents but of their extended families, too. That's not for me. I much prefer my life (and its location) now, and I didn't grow up in the bosom of a large family. Neither of my parents was a native of the area where I was born and raised until my teens. I simply don't have much of a connection to it.
