Does she want you to? The social security board doesn't care. Why should they? It does upset them when one of the symbols in your new name isn't on their keyboard, evidently. Why bother? 20% of marriages end within 5 years. (pre covid stats) Court costs for a name change AFTER the divorce are about 80 bucks here! That's why I've kept his name for 20 years even though we were only married one.

Linda Joy It has traditionally been known as a symbol of ownership. A woman keeps her father's name until her ownership is transferred to her husband. Slaves were also given their owner's last names. -
