My five month old daughter was placed straight into foster care from birth at the hospital. During her birth I lost tremendous amounts of blood without any epidural and was told to take it easy during my stay, and that's what I did. It was then used against my husband and I as if I did not want to care or breastfeed my newborn. I was also not talking much after because of how much pain I was still in. I made it clear to the nurses that I was not ready to leave by day three. The nurses/doctor then contacted CPS for child neglect against my husband and I, and sent me straight into a mental health treatment center for not talking or caring for my daughter in the hospital. Months later we received papers stating that there was no proof of any child abuse or neglect, and handed that paper straight to my attorney. To this day my husband and I are still trying to finish all of our Urine analysis's, parenting classes, and still waiting for my chemical dependency assessment referral/ psychological evaluation referral from our social worker. With the chemical dependency and psychological referrals, I will most likely have to finish and attend therapy/classes for sixteen weeks, and this may exceed our upcoming court date and make us not eligible for full custody of our daughter yet.
