What can I put down there to ease the burning?

I got my period and i didnt think it would be today but here we are. It was wet down there for a while can that cause a burning sensation? Like its rubed raw. Im young so im kinda scared it is serious. If its not serious (I dont think it is) what can i put on it vaseline? Im going to ask my mom but if anyone else has had this problem olease tell me what helps.
