In the UK, the age of sexual consent for women has been set at 16 since 1885, when campaigners fought to raise it from 13 to prevent child prostitution.

Now 16, for both male homosexual and heterosexual couples (Although the fight for equality was a tough one!) Interestingly there is technically no specific legal lower age limit on lesbian sex, although for all intents and purposes, the age at which a girl is able to make sexual decisions is seen as being 16.
