Is this a serious question? I don't want to waste my time writing an essay on spirits and cleansing if it's a joke. - Edit - Sometimes, when people die very sudden or violent deaths, they miss, ignore or reject the opportunity to accept their death and move on, and so an imprint of themselves - the spirit - is left behind as their physical body goes into the earth and perishes. This is a very distressing and traumatizing time for the spirit, as it wanders around trying to communicate with loved ones who cannot see or hear it and grapples with the idea that they are suddenly all alone in the dark. Some spirits find their way to their own funerals and so come to realize they have died and are then able to move on. Others never do, and so are "stuck" with no idea as to how to get back to our reality or move forward to the unknown. Despite popular and sensationalized belief, spirits do not wander around tormenting and scaring humans just for the fun of it. Do you - or does anyone in your home - have a strong spiritual (not religious) background, or is perhaps psychic or can channel electro-magnetic energy? If so, then that is possibly why this spirit has started turning the shower on - to get the attention of this person. Spirits are naturally drawn to and attracted to people who are highly evolved karmically or spiritually - simply because they (the spirit) have a better chance of being noticed and heard by this person than someone who firmly disagrees with the idea of spirits and the afterlife. Spirits have many different ways in which they communicate with us - they start out small, but if we fail to hear or see them, then they will then move on to bigger and better things; such as making lights flicker, electrical devices turning themselves on, faucets coming on by themselves, and so on and so forth. They give us far too much credit when it comes to being able to understand and accept the concept of them ;) If there is a person in your home that fits this description, this person needs to do three things: Acknowledge the spirit verbally or mentally, cleanse themselves and the home by white-lighting, and then attempt to communicate with the spirit. Before I go any futher, please understand that I am NOT suggesting or recommending that ANYONE who is not EXTREMELY knowledgeable in this area attempt to communicate with this spirit. If no one in the home has experience, then simply do nothing. Do not attempt to "get rid of" this spirit using a ouija board or other such item. Do not perform a seance and try to contact this spirit. These methods absolutely will NOT work, and if you already have a spirit in your home, you could unwillingly be inviting other unwanted guests into your home. One spirit is more than enough to deal with. The best method for the experienced person is to meditate and to calmly and politely ask the spirit if it has a message or a special request for anyone in the home. If the answer is yes, write down the message or request, thank them, and inform them that it will be done to the best of their ability and that they should feel free to move on. If the answer is no, then more questions will need to be asked, such as, "Why are you here?", "What can we do to help you?", and "How long are you staying?". An experienced medium will already know that a spirit can not and will not EVER tell a human to harm themselves or another person, but I wanted to write that here for clarification. If a human is hearing voices telling them to harm themselves or other people, they should seek medical assistance immediately. If no one in your home has any experience with spirits, the best advice I can give you is to invest in some Sage and burn it day and night in each room of the house for one day. You can also cleanse the area in which the spirit dwells by performing a technique called white-lighting - imagining casting out white, radiant light from your body that surrounds and fills a room. Both of these techniques are effective and gentle enough to remove your spirit without upsetting or hurting it. If, after the first day, it is still turning on the faucet, repeat the Sage burning and white-lighting until it is gone. Please let me know how it works out :)

Well, I think, that even if you do have a ghost in your house, it has to use an everyday means of turning on your shower. For instance, Poltergeists move objects around the house. To do this they use often young children to move the objects when the adults are not looking. To stop the ghost turning on the shower, you simply need to look for the everyday reason that the shower is turning on, and prevent the ghost from using it.

Wow. I thought I was the only one... I had a spirit living in my bathroom. I named him Dennis, because... well... I had to call him something, and "the demon in the bathroom" took too long. He used to walk back and forth in the tub all day and night... and turn on the faucets randomly at nighttime. Scared the holy hell out of me and my sister both. My parents wouldn't believe it was happening until my bathroom was nearly flooded when my sister and I were on a weekend away. A ghost in our house wouldn't turn on the shower because the shower area is to small for a ghost to fit in.

Kay, I can tell you what not to do. First, don't tell it to leave, and definetly don't yell. From what I've heard, that only leads to more problems. Ironically, the best way of making a ghost stop messing around is to totally ignore it. Don't take any steps to try to stop it, or anything like that. It seems that, at the very least, is able to lessen the activity.

What you see on TV is edited content. You don't see everything that happens on the show. I have met with them several times, and they have done excellent work. Better than some other ghost groups out there.

Explain him , that to clean the house is much more interesting than turning on the shower.

1. Turn the water heater off at night. One really cold shower and the ghost will decide that your shower isn't so much fun anymore. 2. Turn the shower on shortly before you expect the ghost to appear - then the ghost will turn OFF the shower. Then you can sleep peacefully.

Geez, my ghost doesn't turn on the water.. he likes to turn the lights on in the middle of thing night and scare the shit out of me only to find out there is no one here, and occassionly throws things but has been fairly quiet lately - like the others said, I assumed it is my bf who died a year ago checking in so I just said ok, I know it's you and that you're here but you have to stop this. Nothing has happened since but I still have really vivid dreams with him. That's nice.

I've dealt with spirits that got physical before.. We had this one guy walk into my brother's room and throw his dresser drawer on the ground. But they stopped when we weren't intimidated by them. An old remedy for this is to put salt in each corner of the room, but I've never tested that theory. Hope one of these answers helps you out.

I would first try asking. When the ghosts in my daughters house were rocking my grandson in the cradle, and making coffee, opening blinds etc. I explained to them that she was nervous from just having a baby and to please be careful and that I would appreciate their help, they stopped and she could only hear them murmer very quietly and thats all i heard also, problem is that they helped by moving the baby to her bed each night

Call a Plumber.The part may be defective.Just because it turns on by itself doesn't mean a Ghost did it.lol.If you live in a 2 or 3 story house,sometimes at night the water pressure will equialize and release lots of water .Water is very heavy and may seam to be on with full force .My new house does that in the shower sometimes and scared me a few times when it was quiet .

I have heard that just telling them to stop will work. My mom worked at a nursing home with a dude named Lowell. He left the water on all the time so she would just be like "Lowell turn that water off!!" And apparently he did it too. Hope that helped.

Beef Chuck, The best method is simply to ask. Get a radio, and some form of an audio recording device. Before you attempt this, you must be reasonably good with mental states and controlling them. (Always meditate for a few minutes to calm the mind and fill it with positive energy before attempting the following). Turn on your radio and turn the FM/AM dial till you get the hiss. This is the white noise. Be sure to do this in the room you suspect the entity appears in. Turn on your recording device, and start off by greeting the entity. As mentioned by someone else here, the correct term is "entity". After the greeting, give it a moment or two. Then just ask it key questions, why is he/she/it here, what does the entity want, etc. Always be courteous, and give it a good 10 ~ 15 seconds before you proceed to the next question. When you're done, thank the entity for his time, and stop the recording device. Now, simply play the recording device back, and use headphones, preferably. Just listen to the whole recording, and especially more during the periods where you do not talk, and there's only the radio hiss in the background. You may and could very well find what the entity wants through this method. Remember, positive mental state. This is vital and crucial. No, this is not some crap I conjured up. Take it in your own light, and I hope you find a way to communicate with the entity. I won't go into too much detail as to exactly what all I've mentioned actually is, but feel free to try it. Ummm... I'm not going to go into a spiritual cleansing ritual cause I don't know if you're serious. For now- I'd be happy that's all the spirit is doing. Most spirits stay behind for unfinished business- sometimes that business may be violent. Showers turning on seems okay to me- try catching it doing it and shooting it with a shotgun full of rocksalt.

I know your question is over a year old, but I have a friend who had the same problem, only it was the sink that kept turning itself on. She called a plumber and he checked it out and found out it was a bad seal on the tap handle. This will cause the handles on the tap to slowly turn enough that the water can flow. My friend was glad, because she thought it was a ghost.

Tell him/her that you cannot help him/her as you cannot understand the plane in which they live, even if they consider it reality. Tell him/her that god will provide forgiveness and everlasting love and warmth and peace. Tell them that you wish only love for them as everyone dead or alive is deserving of this. Then tell them to go to the light which is waiting for them to enter. :)

Firstly: Get a qualified plumber in to check the pipes and all before you label it as paranormal. There may be a simple, mundane explanation for this. If all that checks out-- It's quite simple: ASK them. Talk to them as if they were a regular person. Explain to them that you find it irritating/scary/whatever when they do that. Tell them you will leave this box or bowl of "x" out for them to fiddle with (and leave them something to fool with) Water, like electricity, is a great channel for spirit energy. Consider video taping your box or bowl of whatever-you-leave-for-them to see if they mess with it.

The best advice I can give is to take charge of your home. Tell that that it is your home and they don't belong there. Stop turning on the water or they'll have to leave. A lot of times, it seems that they don't realize that this isn't where they are supposed to be.
