There are several mini-brewing machines you can purchase, for example the Beer Machine. www.beermachine.com

Yes. You can purchase kits that permit you to brew about four gallons of beer at a time. The equipment takes no more space than a five gallon drum. It is legal to brew your own beer as long as it is for your own personal consumption and not sold. There is also a limit to how many gallons per year you are allowed to brew.

Not only is it now legal, it is quite rewarding. Beer is not very hard to make. While you can easily foul up a batch if you are not careful, be sure to follow STRINGENT sanitary guidelines and you cannot go wrong. Beer kits are phoney, as it is not very hard to make a batch of beer. Making beer can be time consuming, but kits really do not produce beer that is much better than most big label brands. American beer as a whole sucks. It is mass produced, made with inferior ingredients (BUDWEISER) such as rice and corn, that makes sophisticated European countries that have been brewing for centuries, scoff at the idea of drinking our beer(and who could blame them?). American beer also is treated with chemicals to increase the shelf life. Don't ask me why, but that kinda is the reason they've been using hops as a natural preservative for the last 600 years. Homebrews are great, they're better than alot of the beer you'll find in a store, and they make great, heart-felt gifts.

A good source for homebrewing information can be found in the book "The Complete Joy of Home Brewing" by Charlie Papazian. An informative read, even if you're not planning to do a little home brewing yourself.
