How do those shiney cardboard crisper things work in the microwaves?

They're supposed to concentrate the microwaves into a more intense, localized heat. I have yet to see one of those things work properly. Best to crisp the food conventionally first, then transfer to the microwave to speed up the deep cooking process. +5
