  • It is legal to help the police capture suspects, especially if the cops are in "hot pursuit," but it is NEVER expected that any private citizen would do so. +5
  • Laws vary world wide ... ... in some places, stepping out of the way is considered to be 'aiding' a criminal ... in other places any uninvited contact can be labelled as assault ... here in Canada you can get away with tripping or leg breaking an obviously fleeing criminal, with police in clearly obvious pursuit, if you yell something to the effect of 'stop, citizen's arrest' ...
