  • First, make sure your automobile is ready for the road. if its a really long trip, have the oil changed and have a mechanic certify your car is road worthy. be sure you have a spare tire and it has air in it. keep your AAA card handy. Be ready for an emergency on the road, like a breakdown or inclimate weather. have a blanket and warm clothes and food aboard. Packing is hard to determine. a lot of variables here. cold weather means heavy clohes. warm weather means lighter clothes. Do not overpack. you can always wash the clothes you take with you. I always use a packpack. you can really stuff clothes inside a backpack. roll your clothes. it takes less room. I hope this was of some help for you. be careful.
  • Toilet paper, clean water, fuses, tools especially car jack and wheel nut spanner, change for using telephone.
  • I have a thermo-electric cooler that stays in my car. When I travel I put six drinks in it. I always take a thermos of coffee. If you run out most convenice stores will let you fill it up for the price of a cup of coffee. Take a snack that doesn't make crumbs. I like Wheat Thins, and M&Ms for something sweet. Be sure to you have a couple gallons of water and a blanket too. Other things I always have are a manual air pump and a window punch. I drive around a lot of water and often drive through the desert.
  • everyone gave you great tips but no one mentioned music...be sure and take some of your favorite CDs...radio reception isn't always the best in some areas.
  • Awesome music, a camcorder, lots of snacks and drinks...hand wipes and 2 pillows.
  • mints, a paper or magazine, roadmaps, music, a deck of cards, travel connect 4.
  • Phone card...most pay phones no longer take change and you can not count on your cell phone working in remote areas. GPS/maps...AAA travel guide for hotels/motels and food blanket/pillow plenty of water-snacks nd perhaps some MREs in case you get stuck in the middle of nowhere!
