The Green Mile I guess, and btw Lord of the Rings was like the WORST movie adaption of a book, no offense to u.
-
The Chronicles of Narnia...the children were wonderful and the director knew just how to get the best out of them. the scenery was amazing, and the White Witch was the best. some shortcomings, but I think the author would have liked it.
-
Gone With The Wind.
-
For me i would say Animal Farm - George Orwell. A film/book that should be seen/read by everyone.
-

My wife read "Gone with the Wind" a couple of times and she says the movie is a great adaptation of the original novel. I haven't read any book that has been made into a movie. That's probably because almost everything I read is political satire and current events.
-
I think definetly The Lord Of The Rings. Although The Color Purple is pretty great as well.
-
"To Kill a Mockingbird" is my favorite adaptation of a book. Usually I want to read a book first because the movie doesn't even touch it. In this case it wouldn't have mattered.
-
Catch-22 is a stunningly good adaptation of one the best books ever written. Fight Club is also high on my list of adptations.
-
My favorite book of all time his THE PERFUME from german writer Patrick Süskind. When i knew there was a movie adaptation coming, i was very nervous. But german director Tom Tykwer (RUN LOLA RUN, PARADISE) did a marvelous job, keeping the original storyline and putting just a little bit more at the end. A great book, now a great movie.
-
The Passion of the Christ, even though it was only part of the book.
-
The Great Gatsby
-
Bram Stokers, Dracula
-
"A Time To Kill" by John Grisham. Read the book twice and have watched the movie a dozen times. Definately loved the movie as much as the book. Of course it had a wonderful cast of great actors!
-
Gone With The Wind
-
Watership Down (Animated)
-
James Bond Obviously!! although Green Mile is close to amazing
-
The Mists of Avalon has always been my favorite book, and I wasn't displeased with the film adaptation, but thought I could have cast it better. :) Most of John Grisham's books that have been done on film have been good. But like LynfromNM, To Kill A Mockingbird, I think was probably THE best!
