Well, "ever" is a long, long time. Many of great celebrities of the past eras were as venerated as MJ, but most people today wouldn't even recognize their name today.

Consider this: How much notoriety did the likes of Johan Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Frédéric François Chopin reach? The world isn't getting any smarter, and Michael DID provide some pretty beautiful songs (IE Human Nature). No. He's won his place in history.

Quite frankly - YES. Do you remember who the greatest pop star was from the 1800's??? 1700's? 1600's? Didn't think so. Eventually people move on & forget.

I would say yes, except that I've just been re-watching his videos and NOBODY has or can move like that and at the same time have that Peter Pan/Mona Lisa smile...He just looks like he's loving entertaining each individual and at the same time he is a tortured soul.

Michael Jackson dies as the King of Pop. He joins Elvis as another King in culture's hall of musical fame. I can already see myself explaining to my kids who Michael Jackson is, was, and always will be. It makes me feel old just remembering now...
