  • Since I paid into it I expect it to be there upon retirement. After all it is my money.
    • Mr PantsFellDown
      Thank you, yes.
  • I'm not counting on it.
    • Mr PantsFellDown
      Oh. A willing victim.
  • I read an article that states we there will be no social security by 2019. Our country is in debt up to our ears. I am 32 years old and I am not counting on Social Security to be there.
  • There are always social issues and manipulators who would take away from others to have for themselves and it is usually the so caled community leaders who are leading this manipulation. Make your community leaders responsible for the moneys they are responsible for and Social Security will still be there.
  • There is nothing wrong with the Social Security fund. The problem is that the government uses it like a piggy bank. I expect that the "truth in budget" policy will go a long way to restoring it to it's original purpose. It is a good thing that Congress resisted the republican agenda of privatizing the fund. Unbelievably, they were still talking about that while the stock market was crashing.
  • No, it's going to run out before I even turn 40. Sucks for my generation.
  • Yes. Like the 'End Times' warnings, Social Security's demise has been predicted many, many times.
  • I don't plan on needing it.
  • I hope so I need it this year.
  • No. I can't plan on needing it. I'll have to rely on private investments to get me there. Due to longer lifespans and baby boomers starting to retire, seniors are collecting much more out of it than what they put in. Meanwhile, our youth (myself included) are putting into it and will get nothing out. This is what socialism gets you, people. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Every government programs designed to "help" people, are "stealing" from other people. Less government, more individual responsibility is what's needed. That way you reap what you sow, and don't if you won't. Libertarianism... we need more of it!
  • I will not be able to receive full SS benefits when I reach retirement age unless we do something to adjust this aging system. Here's a quick fix: Remove the cap on the $ that is going into the system.
  • No I don't trust the system, that's why my plan is to save plenty of money and make the right investments.
  • No effen way dude. Social security will be like a unicorn, or bigfoot or a smart blonde. Just a myth at that point. If its around, they will tax you for more than they give you. Just so they said they could give it to you. Then bend you over to take it right back. Not too much different than they are already doing I guess.....
  • I hope so...I will need it next year.
  • I'm currently receiving Social Security, but I also have several other significant investments, so it isn't my only income.
  • No, not the way society and the economy is going right now
  • nope. That's what's super's for
  • I say get rid of SS as soon as possible. It was never meant to be a permanent retirement safety net in the first place. It was meant to help people during the depression. Maybe people need to start taking some responsibility for themselves and live leaner, less expensive lifestyles, and put more money in savings accounts, IRA's and if they have access to one, their 401k. When, as a nation, are we going to start to stand on our own two legs and not always be on our knees begging for uncle sam to take care of us?
    • Mr PantsFellDown
Well at least your name is correct.
  • Yes it will, quit being an idiot and read up on it. The admistration long ago bought bonds and have yet to even cash them in. Even if they did cash ALL of them in, there's enough till 2050.. Sheesh, such sheeple!
    • Mr PantsFellDown
And so, being such a parrot, it annoys you that you feel you're so much smarter than people who question things instead of repeating propaganda like idiots.
  • It's obvious, that like a good parrot and tool you're posting this to help plant doubts in people's minds, so your evil masters will have better chances of getting away with taking away WHAT WE BOUGHT. You're really quite the terrorist aren't you?
  • This same question was being asked 40 years ago! The fact is it is and I do
