We moved into our place a few months ago. Our kitchen floor is made of Kauri Wood from New Zealand where we both come from, and when we brought the house we arranged for enough native timber to be shipped over to the UK for us to use for our kitchen floor. The wood is so hard it's almost impossible to drill into and it's naturally rot proof and has simply stunning grain running through it!. So all we did was to sand it down and to varnish it! We do plan to take all the other wooden surfaces in our place back to the natural wood.

Hardwood. Easy to clean. Tile is too cold and anything that falls will shatter. Linoleum is cheaper and faster to put down. If you have the money, go with wood. It looks richer and nicer. Easy to take care of...
