  • He looked just like me. Notice the Resemblence? ROFL
  • a friend called me up and said i have a homeless kitty here...then i dropped the phone to go and prepare for his arrival :) easy peasy
  • He had the most heart breaking story of all the other dogs in the home, so there was no choice but to take him! He had had in excess of 8 owners before us (all brought him back very quickly because they couldn't handle him). Before that he was owned and mistreated by a family which led to him being taken from them.
  • The only pet I have ever owned myself was a rabbit when I was young. I wanted a snake, but my mum said there was absolutely no way that was happening so we compromised on a rabbit (which of course is ALMOST the same as a snake...).
  • I have always had large dogs, but my wife wanted a small dog. I got her a Pug for Christmas and she has become one of the best dogs. I did not like Pugs at all, but know I just can't stop laughing at the funny faces she makes. She has a face that only a mother could love.
  • My last pet was found by my boyfriend. Or rather she found my boyfriend and wouldn't leave his side. So he brought her in and found out that she was well trained and sweet so I decided I wanted to keep her.
  • He was little and funny! When I put him on my lap, it was like I had pushed an "off" button. . .he'd just lay still. Then, when I put him on the floor, it was like I pushed an "on" button. . . .and he would run all over the place. He was born on the 4th of July!
  • After visiting the animal shelter 2 0r 3 times a week for a couple months I met Toby, and I couldn't stop thinking about him. I realized then he was the one
  • My daughter chose him. I'm happy she did.
  • When she was brought home by my BF and he said she was lost, underfed and on a busy road..... she was only about 6 weeks old....
  • My children picked out our last pet, our cat Demon, from the Humane Society. He was the sweetest kitty there and has turned out to be the best cat I have ever owned.
  • it just.. my rabbit is a twin.. but well he was just happy in the cage jumping all around.. and came to the window to say hi...he is so darn cute.. and i got to hold him.. and he was just..already getting comfy.. and so i bought him and im happy i did.. though.. his brother is still in the store.. almost 8 months old i think..
  • I saw his face on the internet when he was five months old and I knew he was the one. He is a fox red labrador.
  • Actually my last pet chose me....I noticed a young dog constantly hanging around my yard. I tried several times to get her to leave but she would always come back...she looked so sad. So.....I started leaving food out for her and she has not left yet....been 7 years now.
  • Actually we didn`t choose him, he chose us...he had been very mistreated, now he is a happy, big,German Shepherd...just another member of the family :)
  • I wanted a kitty, so granddaughter and I went to the SPCA. to get one.. I stayed out in the office to fill out the paper work, she when in to choose one, she came out with the most ugliest kitten I ever saw.. And after 14 year's her name is still "Ugly" ☺
  • Well my dog of 17 yrs was put to sleep in 12-08 and I WAS NOT going to get another dog or pet for AT LEAST 1 yr. BUT my son found this little dog that had been rescured from a bad living enviroment and I went to the neighbors to see her and she attached to me like glue. I was sold!! She is a wonderful little girl and I wouldn't trade her for the world! . I have only had 2 dogs in my life and both of them were rescue dogs. Please think of that when going to get a pet. There are MANY good dogs/cats out there that have been abused and need homes. Check at your animal shelter. You might be surprised at the "family friend" you can gain from an "unwanted" animal. I love mine!!!! . +5
  • I knew what breed I wanted. I picked out the smallest and most shy one left in the litter. Boy, was that a mistake. She is a terror. I still love her though.
  • When he came and put his little head on my arm and looked up at me with eyes that said take me home :0)
  • Simon cat was dumped here and and then was gone, and I said that if he came back he was going to stay, so he came back and now he is another member of the family. The last cat dumped at my house on the day of my uncle's funeral, started having kittens after I got home from the funeral. I wanted to keep her and the only one of her kittens that lived, and I did for a couple of months, and then I had to give them away because I had been hurt in an accident and couldn't take care of the 2 of them as well as the other 4 cats and 1 dog and 1 cockatiel. The person I gave them to gave them away to 2 different people and both cats ran off from them. I so wish I could have kept them.
  • He was a cat who thought he was a dog, I had to have him
  • Cute little snoota poota chose us. He is now, hopefully, the worlds happiest cat.
  • I went to the pound to adopt a cat, I picked out a beautiful little female calico. I went to pay the adoption fee and they said I had to provide a copy of my lease agreement to prove that I was allowed to have pets. I arranged to pick up the cat the next day with a copy of my lease. I came the next day and the calico was gone. They said they didn't have any kittens left at all. I was about to give up but I decided to go look at the cats they had one more time. I saw a small black cat with what looked like a nasty eye/nose infection that was seperated from the rest of the cats. They told me she wasn't up for adoption because she was sick and that she was unfortionately going to be put down. I was heartbroken and after a lot of negotiating I ended up adopting her. She is healthy now but has problems with her eyes and is almost blind. She has to see her vet regularly and her eyes need daily care, but it's worth it because she is the sweetest cat I've ever had and we all love her to pieces.
  • We left the back door open and she moved in and never left x
  • My birds chose me - I'd hang around the bird store and let the different babies hang on me, I'd feed them, let them snuggle in my hair. Sunkist chose me and it took me a while to get him home. Mojo wasn't my first choice, but she took to my husband and was the sweetest little thing. The Cat Who Isn't Ours decided to run away from his last home and started staying in my garage; sleeping on my car, leaving little paw prints. I started feeding him, and talked to his last owners. It seemed that at dog #3, the cat decided he couldn't take it anymore and started searching for a new sucker. He is now our cat, he is about 17 years old, he bites now and then, and sleeps a lot, but he is our Snookums now.... not allowed in house during daylight hours as the birds "rule the roost".
  • Someone dropped a kitten off in my yard. She now shares my dog's bed and food bowl. He was a stray when I brought him home too, so perhaps that's why he's so gentle with her. I didn't choose them, they chose me.
  • He was cute and lovable.... but, he had also been abandoned and needed a home.
  • I was at the shelter looking at pets and he came up the front of the cage and stuck his paw thru. When I got close to the cage, he kissed me. That's when I knew.
  • Due to my MIL's accident, my husband's sister, Diane, in California had come out for a visit. She stayed with another sister here who had a stray come visit her and have kittens in her garage. She had the mom and two kittens. Diane knew we were cat lovers and asked us to come check them out and we fell in love with one kitten and the mom. The other kitten had a home lined up for it, thankfully. We had recently lost one cat and thought it was time to enlarge our 'family'. We're so glad they came our way. The kitten, Titus, has brought new youthful vigor to our old grouch, Caesar and Caesar also just loves the mom, Shelly. They are a very happy family :-)
  • I love this question! A friend of mine who is a police officer works with the k-9 unit. His dog had to retire do to an accident. Great dog! He was my friends partner for 5yrs. Anyway since my friend had almost no time to be home and take care of him, he's MINE! We love him so very much! What a wonderful dog he is!!! His name is Starski, can you guess my friends last name? haha
  • bud would "surprise attack" our feet. he has a foot fetish. fluff would lay on my back when it hurt and clean me after I took/take a shower.
  • Pretty simple for me, it looked soft and adorable!
  • She was the daughter of Tripod, the 3 legged manx. I KNEW she'd be good. Named her Miss Kitty.
  • sometimes the pet is not for a person some of them you have to take back cause there not fit for the kids or they are not what you where looking for, other times they are and you just get lucky then you can say its a part of the family or just a good friend to have.
  • I have two dogs. Both Sheppards, both females. The story behind my Sadie is simple she is my partner and guards my back when I am on patrol. She has been with me now for 5 years, not once letting me down. She picked me 5 years ago. There are 5 patrol officers and 5 dogs on the k-9 unit, we lined up and they let the dogs run to our side, Sadie made her way to me without hesitation............been with me ever since. The story behind my Augie is just as simple and just as loyal she was a $50 special at the humane society. Been with me for 12 years. In the humane society I simply went in the place to look around half heartly, this dog looked at me, cocked her head, I swear she did a doggie smile and my heart melted. Off we went and no turning back!
  • When i tickeled his belly he layed on his back and really loved it! I adopted him from Animal Welfare
  • He chose me. He belonged to a neighbor, but was always getting out, especially when there were firecrackers or thunderstorm. Every time he escaped from their house, he came to my house, and they took longer and longer to come and get him, and finally just quit picking him up. It turned out they got another dog that stayed home.
  • well my pet was very sweet and i like sweet people and pets so.....
  • I've always been a dog person basically. Then I saw this little baby cat (the runt) being picked on by all the others in the litter. She was a mess one eye didn't open and she was skinny from not getting all the milk she should have. Had to take her home.
  • i didnt. it was near my birthday, i saw my mum had taked £200 out of the bank. i asked for an iPod she bought me home a puppy. i was not impressed
  • I knew the breed I wanted and saw a photo of the dog I wanted on a rescue dog website. The rescue place was having a "meet and greet" at the local pet store, so I went there and saw the soulful eyes of the pup I saw on the website and I just had to adopt him. After a home study and background check and several hundred dollar adoption fee, I got to bring him home. The first thing I did was change his name from Shelby to a good boy dog name: Rocky. He's such a good boy! I love him unconditionally and he returns the sentiment. I get happy dances every time I come home. I'm a big proponent for adoption - dogs and children.
  • I have two pets. A dog named Dexter and a cat Named Eb. My mum got me the cat, and she said when she went to choose it she played with the litter to see which was more freindly, and she said eb was the one that stood out to be the nicest one there that enjoyed the human contact. and she hasnt changed. she thinks she is a dog and a human some times i swear. When we got Dexter we drove for a few hours to visit the family that had the puppys. they were tiny, and FAT. we went in to chose one and dexter came up and just layed on my feet and went to sleep. and every time i moved he follwed and layed on my feet again. i wanted him! he still now followed us around and lays on out feet even tho he is getting so big =]
  • He picked me, he was the runt of the litter and he's now my canine soul-mate
  • It was a kitten without a home that the apartment manager had found and was keeping in her office. We went in that day to report a problem, and that kitten jumped on my lap (passing up on my wife's) and curled up for a nap.
  • He just showed up,all skinny, limping and pitiful. He seemed to say everywhere he went people ran him off,no one would help.I just gave him food. And he became big, shinny, beautiful and full of love.:D
  • I did not choose my pet...he chose me. I have a cat door and he came in on Mother's Day afternoon 6 years ago and has stayed.

  • I could keep him inside a bowl of water... that was good!!!
