An Airman in the USAF. My official job description was, "Kiss the ass of everyone who outranks you, even if they don't deserve it."

not only menial but tiring! Worked for a lumber yard one time, years ago. Worked outside year around, loading lumber that moved down a grading line. The grading line basically dipped board after board through a solution then the wood planks were marked/graded and then came down to me and a few others and stacked by grade. That's all you did was load board after soaking wet board in rain, snow, heat..didn't matter, and we worked 12 hour shifts 6 days on.

Worked as a general laborer in a Creamery/processing plant. I washed milk cans in an acid solution to take of the rust, helped load 50 pound bags of dried milk and dried sweet buttermilk into railroad cars and semi trucks and did any cleaning and physical work assigned by the bosses. I did learn how to lift an 80 pound can of milk so I could place it head high on the shelf of a truck. I had time to reflect, etc. but too much because I could make a mistake while my head was somewhere else.

I've bagged groceries, made breakfast sandwiches, and taught a 2 year old Latin. Oh well, menial is relative. I've always paid my bills, and each experience has grown me as a person. Not to mention, I've been bringing in my own money since I was in high school.

I worked a Denny's graveyard shift. This was after I walked out on being a legal assistant. I do things like this a lot. Don't as me why. Anyway the manager who was 20 and very anal retentive told me to clean the toilets as part of my pre work shift. I was a waitress. I told him to never speak of this to me again or I would call the Board of Health. How would you like your sever to bring you food after wiping a toilet? I didn't sign on for that. I told him I did not see anyone standing in line for my job so if he didn't want to wait tables and manage, to stuff it.

The most menial job I ever had was working in gift wrap in a department store. It made me feel low at the time.
