platypus (also duck-billed platypus) >noun (pl. platypuses) a semiaquatic egg-laying Australian mammal with a sensitive pliable bill like that of a duck and webbed feet with venomous spurs. -ORIGIN from Greek platupous 'flat-footed'. Its origin is Greek, not Latin. The plural is plataypuses. +5

from Wiki: There is no universally agreed upon plural of "platypus" in the English language. Scientists generally use "platypuses" or simply "platypus". Colloquially, "platypi" is also used for the plural, although this is pseudo-Latin;[3] the Greek plural would be "platypodes".

Platypi is what I've heard. Any singular term ending in an 'S' sound usually has an 'i' plural.

You could say 'platypuses' or simply say 'platypus'. Both words would be appropriate.
