  • Zero times. You need a CD-RW to allow rewrites.
  • CD-R is write-once and *cannot* be erased. CD-RW can be erased and re-writen with new data/music. However, CD-R has two big advantages over CD-RW; 1) Most CD players can read a CD-R, but not all of them can read a CD-RW 2) CD-RW discs are a *lot* more expensive. Depending on where you go, you might be able to pick a 50-pack of CD-Rs for the same price as a 5-pack of CD-RWs.
  • CD-R discs can only be used once. CD-RW can be rewritten and erased up to 1,000 times.
  • Gee, how time flies! Nobody uses discs any more (in 2017), even thumb drives are going by the wayside as streaming takes over.
