  • If that is the definition of a real friend, then I guess the answer would be no. The up side to that is...I have been a real friend to others. :-)
  • I am not (besides one 900 miles, who I have little contact with these days) so I guess I do not.
  • Seems so now... it's very weird
  • Maybe, but they don't live down here.
  • Yes I do , they are just quite a long way away
  • If this is what makes a "real" friend, then I have a lot of them
  • If that defines a "real" friend then i have only one. She is the nicest person I have ever met and I appreciate her more than she could ever know.
  • I have one in face to face -friend- that is that kind of person. She is always there for me for every step every phase of my life. Then I have another friend that is always there in my time of need. I return the favor to her also. . . . Then in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit...the biggest surprise of my life. I have several internet friends that Ive had from 3 years to 8 years. Me and my family recieved more help from them than one can imagine. They sent us food, clothing...meds....ice chests, beds, tents....One friend sent things like note books and pencils and pens... staplers, stamps envelops. Another internet friend sent under garments and socks for EVERYONE in our family. One net friend made and sent quilts for us all before winter hit. This help from net friends came from Canada, England and America. It was completely amazing to me....I knew I thought of them as good friends. It just never crossed my mind that without being here.. they could actually be here for me. I see myself as very blessed in the friend department! So, I would say my answer to this is a big ol' YES! !
  • yes, i have plenty
  • A real friend must have no sense of smell.
  • No. The only "good friend" I have is my boyfriend.
  • Yup!! ...and i think she is my good luck charm
  • No, will you be my real friend?
  • Right now it seems so. i am very grateful to that person.
  • Walking in when others walk out.... All firefighters are friends to me.
  • i'm one of the luckiest people alive. i have two. plus my wife and son. True friends are the rarest commodity in the world
  • Ain't that the truth, He's walking in alright. Always walking in and sponging off me. Eating my food, playing my video games and wearing my clothes!! Time for hime to walk out and get a job!!
  • maybe i've one but not sure. i'm always wondering tht is he my friend becuz of me or my oney (although don't spend any on him)
  • No but I want one like that! Anyone that loves me that much would be a God sent! I have always been that kind of friend to others though. I will drop everything for someone that needs me.
  • my sister she is the only one.
  • I have. We met at primary school, and best buddies still at 17!
  • yes and another definition of a real friend is someone who takes you in when the rest of the world has cast you out
  • If you define a real friend as that then I have lost many a million friend every time we part on the way home - that is quite a pessimistic view of friendship, friendship is what binds us, so if your friend leaves you for a while and you disown them, thats just plain silly
  • Ha, yep. Sounds just like my best friend - she is always late!
  • Uhhh....nope. Now that I think about it, I don't even have any fake friends.
  • I have had the same best friend for 12 years. There has not been one day I haven't spoken to her, she is my solidity in life, I have travelled with her, done everything with her. She has never let me down. Everyone calls us the twins, haha which makes no sense cause we look absolutely opposite. But both our names are Jen. :)
  • I have family. They always have been and always will be my friends. Even husbands and wives divorce and leave, but family is for life.
  • Yes, I have 2- well 3 counting my mom. Met them both in grade 7 but didn't become better aquainted(sp?) until grade 8 and the 3 of us have been best friends since then. Well there was 4 of us, but one has changed slowly and found different friends and we're not as close as we once were... still makes me sad when I think about the memories we all had together as a group. We are all 18 now, btw.
  • A real friend is someone who tells you to get up off your butt and stop feeling sorry for yourself. A real friend knows when to back off and give you some space. A real friend knows that when you are grieving there is absolutely nothing they can do to help you. They know… The real pain we go through alone. A friend who walks in when everyone else walks out is just a …. NOSEY PARKER!
  • yep i have a friend, no i have four very good friends. i really want to thank them all on this occasion. :) and i have always been their good friend too. thanks for asking such a question and made us think about it for a moment!
  • I have a bunch of real friends. And at this time in my life I've really needed them. They've been there for me wheather it's on the net or face to face. I don't know what I could do without them.
  • I believe I have two friends who would be there no matter what when nobody else is. I would go to the end of the world for them, and them the same for me. Relating to the loyalty post, even if you don't totally agree with thier point of view or situation, you will always be there for them offering your support and love. From experience both ways, where somebody would drop anything and everything to be with you in your hour of need, i definately do.
  • Whose definition is that? I do to that definition yes, but real friends aren't usually like that...
  • I definitely do, but not very many. Also they have a real friend in me.
  • my husband and kids!
  • Yep, only one though
  • Yes. I've known her since 7th grade- seriously- and her motto is, "if you like it, I love it." That alone says more to me than she'd know.
  • Yes and we've been married for 34 years.
  • Hmm...I really don't know. I have some friends on some forum pages, and they are really nice. I wouldn't know if they are true friends or not...But I do know who will always be there for me...my family. My mom is one of my best friends, and so is my dad. You can't go wrong there. I have to tell you, it's hard to find a best friend, and whoever has one should be very thankful that they do, and I hope they appreciate them every day.
  • yeah, on the death of a familly member friends saw me thru
  • Yes I do.
  • yes, susy is like my bestest freind, then there's my freind ili, zack, rocio, joyce....ect
  • yes, yes i do! lol...i am very thankful for it and very blessed....
  • yes her name is jasleen. when i just want to be alone shell be all like noo!!! & really thats what i needed is someone to be there.
  • I do not. At 44 years old I do not. Sad isn't it.
  • Yes. I have 4.
  • Well from what that says I don't think so. Maybe one. But most of my friends aren't always there for me. i always considered myself as a loner anyways.
  • yes i do but it toook me along time to realise it, as a child i was abused, no one except my husband and my best friend know this. when i was 18 i was walking down the street when i letterally bumped into my abuser and to tell you the truth it sent me mad. most of my family avioded me, i was self harming, bulimic and generally horrible, but the one person who would not go away was my friend, the harder i pushed her the harder she held on, she would see me every day, dress my wounds, feed me. she was amazing and it took me a while to realise how much i loved her for the person she was she gave me the courage to seek counsilling and to discover not everything bad in the world was my fault. it wasnt till recently that she told me how hard it was for her to be with me then. how she cried every night and how sometimes she had to force herself to see me. when everyone gave up on me she didnt, she dragged me kicking and screaming back into the real world and then showed me how good it could be. so when ever one walked out she faught her way back in. she will be be my best friend till the day that i die i owe her everything.
  • yes, i have 5 thankfully. alyssa, heather, taylor, julie, and brandi I have gone through times where the whole school just wants to slap me cuz i'm being so stupid, and acting like a jerk but all of them stay by my side until i snap out of it.
  • Why yes I Do a couple as a matter of fact! :)
  • No doubt in my mind.
  • I have at least four. Man, am I ever lucky!!
  • Yes, I have a few "real freinds". I am very blessed :) I thank God everyday for the Freinds I have :)
  • I was samrt enough to marry him.
  • I have to say no, not anymore. with Jimmy I had a TRUE Friend. He is the one I never doubted . 100% trusted and confided. I knew he would always be my side. so I thought...........
  • Yes, I do.
  • I do :) and I just saw her this weekend.
  • I Have a real friend who doesn't need to walk in because they are already there.
  • yes i do and we are in fight now andour friendship is abuout to end so always keep your friends close
  • Okay, help me understand. To what extent should you keep walking in? I recently ended a friendship and some support me in it, others don't get it because they say now more than ever do they need. But they said that five other times when I tried to walk away. I tried with all my strength to be there every step of the way. But, nothing ever changed. The same situation happened over and over, never learning from the experiences, never taking any of my advice, though she required so much of it. I believe in my heart that I walked away at the right time. Now, everyone tells me I am not being the real friend. But, I feel like she was never the REAL friend. But, she is not a bad person though, and I do hope one day she gets it, because then maybe we can be friends again. I miss her!
  • I did as a teenager, but not since then.
  • Some times it's good to have a friend who is helpful. I have some strangers who became friends because they are helpful..but some friends need to be independant - too much help does not let the person grow up. We can walk in but becareful not to totally take over the problem for them- co dependance is healthier.
  • its good to have friends because than your not alone... but if you have a friend that just walks away from you than thats not a good friend but i have heaps good friends and they don't walk away from me they are nice
  • i have been a rela friend to others but for me...whenthe rest of the world walked out my best friend walked with them and found a new best friend...but i guess u could say my mom walkedi n when the rest of the world walked out
  • yes i have a real friend.:)
  • isn't that a real hero?
  • Yes she goes by the name of sweetcakes. She has proven time and time again what a true and wonderful friend she is.
  • Yeah I guess. I had a birthday party last week and my 'best friend' walked in when the party was over and everybody was walking out :|
  • Yes. I have several. One of them is my wife, who was my best friend before we married and still is. Another is my step-son, who's my best male friend. Most of my other real friends I know only from the Internet, where I have been since 1989. Friends are where you find them, and sometimes where you find them is most unlikely. : ))
  • I have several. My husband first and foremost. Then I have a best friend from each of the places I've lived in my life. Two in particular are the types who show up when others leave. One in particular gave me money to buy a car when our tanked in the middle of our daughter's chemotherapy. She only asked how soon do you need it? And told me to pay her back when I could. Four years later, I've paid her back 3/4 of it.
  • Nope. People nowdays are too lazy to even help themselves..
  • yes. i have quite a few real friends.
  • i have been blessed. i have many. theyre lifelong and weve made so many beautiful memories together... the litmus test is that friends help you move. real friends help you move bodies.
  • No, bot I'm lookin for one. You know anybody?
  • I do have a real friend. The situation has never arised where she would have to be the one to walk in but I know she would be the one to do so. Which is why I fell in love with her, she only wants to be friends but she is my best friend.
  • Nope :)
  • Sure do :)
  • Perhaps one day... I see some people who do, and I feel rather envious. Maybe one day... *sighs*
  • NO. I thought I had two best friends. One I've heard from 3 times since a tragic event in my life and the other only twice. The event happened in June.
  • Yes! Thank my lucky stars!
  • yes, ive been out of work and i have this friend that will help me out with anything i need when i cant get help anywhere else
  • That's not a "real friend" at all. That's a guy who has no sense of smell and has walked in when everyone else is running out gasping for breath. A "real friend" is one who will fight for you when you're right and fight to get you on the right path when wrong. Most real friends are confused with enemies.
