  • When I bought my first new car, my goal was to get it for under $2,000. I bought a brand new 66 Chevy Biscayne for $1,995. Even by that days prices, that was a bargain. Today, it sounds impossibly cheap.
  • I bought a 1965 Impala for $35.(it was on fire at the time)(couple of feet of vacumn tubing and a couple of plug wires and I drove it home)
  • $500 for a car when I was delivering mail. ( no need to buy anything nice for that) $14000 for our pontiac montana
  • My first car was a white '66 Valiant, push button shifter, for $100. sold it a year later for the same price.

  • $13,000 for my Eagle Talon. $500 for my Ford Tempo. I suppose you might include free for my Ford Escort that my dad bought me when I was 17. EDIT: I forgot about my ford Festiva. A friend of mine saw it on the side of the road shortly after I wrecked the Talon. It said "Make offer" on the windshield. It was a beat to hell piece of crap (little did I know) and I offered him $200. He said "Make it $150 and you got a deal." Turns out it had a light switch and a push button for an ignition, no cranks on the windows, no door handles on the inside (think about those two together) and was filthy. But it ran. I thought I had cleaned it out pretty well, but a couple weeks later my daughter found a potato stuffed in the back seat cushion. Probably the vehicle that was most worth my money in the end. I put ten thousand miles on that car for the purchase price along with a battery and one oil change. Not to mention how fun it is to drive a $150 car in the winter. You don't care if you hit something! ;)

  • Largest? About $16K on a year-old van Smallest? Nothing. My boss, at the time, had recently bought a van, and being his only employee, he knew I needed a vehicle (a second one), since my wife also worked, and we had a couple of kids. He GAVE the the vehicle I'd been driving 50-60 miles daily, to a client's. (Ok... Maybe I had to buy the plate, but you normally do for ANY vehicle, and the car itself, was free!)
