Competative ballroom dancing. Its the only sport where a team consists of two people, a man and a woman. And you can come up with all sorts of philoshical compairsons between ballroom dance and relationships with the opposite sex.

The only serious world sport is football (not the padded-up rugby that Americans and Canadians play!) Anyone can play, the rules are simple, there are adequate opportunities both to specialise and to generalise in skills, you don't need any fancy equipment beyond a ball... There is good reason why it is by far the most popular sport in the world, both for numbers playing and numbers watching.
-
Football.
-
Football! [Soccer]. Despite the fact that it is a game of 22 people on a pitch trying to kick a ball into a net [2 of those trying to keep it out of their own net], it is one of the most competetive and well known sports around and takies a lot of skill. I know that plenty of other sports takes miles more skill but its what i like and it is not as simple as it sounds.

It's not that hard to understand. You can simpifly it and say "no forward passes in the opposing team's half". The complexity arises from the various ways you can be played onside, the "interfering with play" clause, and the exceptions like throw-ins. And of course with judging it accurately in a fast moving game.

I'm a baseball fanatic, so I got to say baseball.

MMA or Mixed Martial Arts...to be more precise the Ultimate Fighting Championship. I like all the leagues, but UFC is by far my favorite. I know a lot of people feel it is a little barbaric, but I truly enjoy the competition and technique involved. I have never been much of a sports watcher, but I LOVE the UFC. I think those guys are at the top of the athletic food chain.

I would have to be bias and say Equestrian sports are the best. There's nothing like that feeling of power you get from riding an animal that could squash you like a bug if it wanted too. Especially if you're able to get that true connectedness that we all strive for in the saddle. Never to force, but to join with for a common goal. And the speed and grace is unparalled in anything but gymnastics and dancing. And what a work out. Your legs kill worse after a Dressage test then a ten mile run.

after reading all comments and being totally neutral. 1. Football (soccer) Played by "men" who roll around on the floor when you blow on them faining injury until the stretcher comes on then they get up limp for two steps and run off? 2. American Football Football Evry time something seems to be happening it stops they all line up and off it all goes again till something happens and it stops again. I am not critisizing and i am sure the respective fans could pull me to pieces but give me a sport where someone who does not know the rules inside out can sit watch understand and enjoy whats going on. some examples 1. Boxing hit each other till one falls down 2.Waterskiing Ski round some bouys until you get to the end fastest wins 3.High Jump Jump over the stick and keep putting it up till only one person clears it. need i go on

Speedway Motorcycle racing. The best riders control the traction and direction of the bike by shifting their weight when the front wheel lifts from the track while accelerating out of the turns. It is like riding a 75hp unicycle. These bikes have a single speed and no brakes to save weight. The heats are only 4 laps, so there is no time to wait for a mistake by the rider ahead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9sURW_KGzY&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pCHREVSDYQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcyrZs5X3Fs&mode=related&search=

From what perspective? Do you mean health benefits, applications, popularity? You are getting subjective answers from excited people - "emotion-based reactions". Thus the question is great to get points - not much value otherwise.
-
Wrestling by far. Most difficult sport to train for, most competitive, and by far the oldest and most founded. Just think about it Wrestling MATCH; Football GAME, Hockey GAME, Baseball GAME, Basketball GAME... Wrestling is the worlds first true sport, the others are just games. :) (No offense intended, it's a wrestler's pride thing).

By far, Soccer, the European version, often played as rugby in certain countries. Governments of waring countries have been known to call cease fires and truces to allow these games to be played. Any sport that can influence that type of reaction from a country's government, is definately number one in my book.

Hockey "Go Minnesota Golden Gophers"

Rugby League. The toughest sport by a mile

Sports are totally overrated. One team will verse another team, someone will win (and someone will obviously lose), and it will happen over and over again with another team. It will never end. The only way that I would like any sports is if one team would win, just once, and it would be over. The losing team has to stop playing forever... What's the point of playing if it all keeps repeating?
-
football (soccer to all of the in the US)
-
Soccer is for wimpy men, football is for pretenders and any non-contact sport can go to hell. 1a:hockey 1b:rugby The way to go: Vancouver Canucks and New Zealnd All-Blacks
-
Mixed Martial Arts!! Been watching UFC since the 1st one, but went to many matches before that. Kinda watered down now, but it still takes a helluvan athelete to excel in both stand-up and ground. Man vs Man, (or woman now, not sure about that yet) no one to help you, if you don't get the job done, only yourself to blame. That's a great sport!!
-
The correct answer to the question is: Hockey. No ifs, no ands, no buts. It is faster than any other game, because it is played on skates. The puck is very hard, and dangerous. it is difficult to manipiulate, because it is not round. Check: sportslices.blogspot.com
