Waiting. Since i was a child, i, like all other children, could not wait for November and December.....the holiday months! The buildup of excitement was almost too much to bare. This was the upside of childhood. Here was and is the downside of the holidays: ITS OVER TOO SOON! Christmas should be celebrated for at least five full days and not just one day. Thanksgiving should be celebrated for at least two days. this way, you can recover overnight from a full stomach and head into the second day of leftovers. Waiting and anticipation was always a big part of my childhood.

Forced gift giving. People spend so much money on things that others don't need or want and then the recipients have to act all happy about it. I'd rather just spend the time together. I'm all for random gifts when it strikes you to do so, but the way it is seems so fake and wasteful.

Listening to people bitch about the holidays. :-)

you have to pretend you remenber people who go "do you remenber me, i use to change you as a baby" and you have to be nice to every one be in a good mood. on holidays i just want to enjoy and relax. and we have to have a set time for every thing and every one. cause every one want to come see the baby or for us to come over. i swear we have a by the hafe hours sheet ready for x-mas. next year i'm staying home and every one can come to us.

I can't handle the people that only bother coming around once a year and EXPECT a gift. We decided not to do presents a few years ago on my moms side of the family and boy was it ever a small gathering the next year. I have no respect for those people that only get together for the gift, it should be about family.

For Thanksgiving it's putting away the leftovers and cleaning up! For Christmas, I think it's the anxiety of gift buying, especially with less resources. Other than that, I love everything...the caroling, the songs, the exchange of gifts, the cooking, the decorating, gift wrapping...etc. It's my favorite time of the year.
