  • Well, if you had to take a written drivers license test you would know, but one beer equals the same amount of alcohol that is in a shot of any liquor or whiskey, no matter how high the proof. Ok, you take one shot of 80 proof one day and then a shot of 190 proof the next. You would not notice a difference; I've actually tested the theory of one shot equals one beer. The beer was just about the same as one shot with the 80 proof and the 190 proof. 190 proof goes by the alcohol content in the bottle, so there is really not a drastic difference in one shot.
  • It is true that the ethanol content in one 4.2% 12 oz beer equals 4 oz of 12% wine equals 1.25 oz of 40% liquor. It does matter what the proof of the beverage. The percent ethanol (how many ounces of ethanol per 100 oz of the drink) is equal to the proof divided by two. If the proof is 80 for one drink and 160 for the second, the second drink is 80% ethanol or 80 ml of ethannol in 100 ml of drink while the first is 40% ethanol or 40 ml of ethanol in 100 ml of drink. So there is quite a difference. So that one ounce of 160 proof liquor would be 80% ethanol which means that 80% of an ounce of this liquor is ethanol. A 80 proof liquor would mean that 40 percent of an ounce of this liquor is ethanol. This is quite a difference. But on to the question at hand - A shot of liquor is 1.25 ounces, so to find the ounces of alcohol in a shot of liquor you take (Ounces of drink) * ((Proof/2)/100) ((Proof/2)/100) = percent ethanol as a decimal and Proof/2 equal the percent ethanol in the drink. Thus (1.25*((190/2)/100)) = 1.1875 ounces ethanol in this 1.25 oz drink of everclear A beer is 4.2% ethanol on the average so 12 ounces * 0.042 = 0.504 oz ethanol in one 12 oz beer Therefore 1.875/0.505 = 2.36 equals the number of 12 oz 4.2% beers to drink to equal one shot of everclear
  • 500000
  • well it depends on the alcohol content of both but to give a really rough estimate a domestic bottle of beer is about the equivalent to a shot of 40% alc. by vol. liquor. but keep in mind there are liquors like bacardi 151 which is about 75% alcohol and some beers like steal reserve is 8.1% alcohol which is twice as much as the average more common beers
  • I don't know. Only fools drink everclear, and I'm not one.
  • wow MR CALCULATIONS (creaky) you are one of those annoying guys who likes to type UNNECESSARY bullcrap to make your ego bigger, don't you? shame on you. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS THIS: 1 beer = 1 shot of 40% liquor So, how many times does 40% go into 95% (everclear)? 95/40 = 2.375 = quantity of beers equal to 1 shot Everclear. creaky my advice is to stop trying to impress people cause i see right through you.
