It equates massive destruction with God’s power and might; such a comparison may be very compelling when contemplating the future.

I've never heard that before. The only time I heard anything about the Finger of God was in the Mount Sinai when he used his finger to create the first table of the Ten Commandments that Moses broke. But a tornado does kind of look like a finger stirring water. Or air.
