First you'd have to prove a god exists. You will never be able to do that, jangobean, because there are no gods - and nobody has ever proven otherwise. So, if I was in your shoes, I wouldn't hold my breath.
  • you dont..beliefe its something thats inside you, and you wouldnt think of the thought that god dont excist..and that person have he`s ore her`s beliefe..and why is it so important to convince someone, let them believe in what they want to believe in. its a free world..dont focus so much in what the other person believe in..we are different and its ok to be..stop fixing things..let that person believe in what they want=)
  • when i can see him and touch him i will believe.
  • You could try killing their family and telling them that it was God's will... or you could just leave them alone and let them find God on their own time.
  • You can't convince anyone of anything that they don't want to believe. If I am dead set on believing that the sky is green there is nothing you can do to force me to change my belief if I don't want to. However, if you must try actions work much better than lectures. If people see by your actions that your belief in God has helped you they are more likely to respond than if you preach to someone who has no interest in what you are saying. I will give you an example with a slighly different concept although basically the same. I have often talked about the fact that I am bipolar on this site. My mother also has emotional problems and for years I tried to convince her to get some help. She always yes yesed me but never did anything. However now two things have changed she is desperate enough to want help and she sees how much therapy and medication has helped me and she is now under the care of a psychiatrist and therapist. You see for someone to change their they have to be open to changing it.

"If people see by your actions that your belief in God has helped you" WHAT if people see that someone's belief in Leprechauns has helped make his life better - does that make Leprechauns real? How about a belief in Poseidon? Do you see how childish & ignorant your argument is?
  • people are indocrinated and brain-washed from the day they are born. The lucky ones learn to live in a cosy world of make-belief. We unfortunate "others" have not been taught to believe in gods, angels, devils, eternal damnation,72 virgins, or the exquisite pleasure (far exceeding sex)of being in the presence of some god when they die.
  • I'm not sure I can convince even a believer that God exists. You just know that you know that you know. A large part of it is God's work, not man's (or woman's). I think it was Carl Jung, when asked if he believed in God, who said he didn't believe God existed, he KNEW God existed!
    • OrangeDonRump
Oh, I'm so thrilled for you and Karl. I know someone who literally KNOWS that Zeus is the real god, and KNOWS he exists. This kind of argument is childish hand idiotic.
  • Ok, this is what i think: You'r relationship with God is personal. I don't think you could ever convince a non-beliver that God exist if they don't wanna belive. And people who belive in God should respect that there are other people that don't, since you can't really prove God's existens. But also the other way around, that non-belivers should respect that other people may belive in God. Relgion starts a lot of war's. so i think people shoulden't be that caught up in what other people belive, and act on that. But respect eachother and eachother's belives.
  • I pray and ask God for guidance, I do not force my views on anyone who does not want to know. If God has a plan He will let you know. If He wants you to 'save' someone, then He will show the way. The reason that Christians try to 'save' everyone is because it is written in the Bible-we are to spread His word and love, and bring non-believers over. I lost a very dear, what I thought was very close friend when I told her I had accepted Jesus as my Savior. I did not try and force anything Christian on her, but she no longer answers my e-mails, phone calls, mailed letters. It's not worth losing a friend over. I do pray for her that one day she will understand and look me up. She doesn't have to be 'saved' to be my friend. I truly miss talking to her. Anyway, Bible thumpers do force people to turn away even more, as well as the hypocrites. They were the ones who kept me away from church for many years. I hope this helps. God Bless, <:))))<><
  • I would not try, we are all allowed our personal beliefs and I feel that it is not up to me to tell a person they are wrong . What is right for me is not necessarily right for another
  • I would point to the starry sky and ask "Who else could have possibly made it?"
    • pipey
Astronomers know how stars form. No god is needed in the process.
  • You won't i believe nor should you try to.
  • You cannot, and the more people try to ram their own beliefs down a persons throatthe less chance they have of success. Nobody wants to be incessantly preached to . Regrettably it is usually people that have been converted themselves that seem to be the most avid in their search for new souls.I am and have always been a member of my Church I do not believe that I am a Roman Catholic to convert other people. It is for me, what other people want to believe is not my business. If less of us were so dogmatic in our beliefs I truly believe there would be much less anger hate and trouble in the world Even as a Christian I get sick of people asking me if I believe in Jesus. That is my business nobody elses.
  • You can't really. Believing in the existence of God requires a degree of faith; having faith means one believes. Therefore, it follows. I suppose your question would be more accurately phrased, "How can I instill faith in a person who has none?". Also, if you don't succeed the first time, and you likely won't, you're less likely to succeed as time goes on. In fact if the non-believer is anything like me the harder you try the more they will resist as you have already proven your inability to prove nothing and are only reinforcing their non-belief.
  • God has the power to give anyone the gift of "conversion." The heavens are truly miraculous, its impossible that the just appeared without the mind of God himself. A person believes through faith. Thats y there isnt an "Explanation" of God, or the 1 that people want to hear. Christianity is through faith. And remember, Christianity isnt a label of title..its a lifestyle.
  • FOR THE PERSON THAT WROTE : you dont. we are happy not believing, and if you try to make us believe we will shut you down. the only thing you will accomplish by it is pissing us off. I've been both a born-again Christian and an atheist. The idea that atheists are miserable and only Christians can be happy is a lie spread by religious leaders. It has no basis in reality.
  • 1. God Loves You! The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" The problem is that . . . 2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God. The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.” The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago, 3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me." God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior. 4. If you want to accept Christ as Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this: "Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always." Did you pray this prayer?
  • Well, you can't really. They have to believe. It's kinda like trying to convince a conservative that a single payer health care system is the best way to go.
  • I wouldn't.I don't try to convert anyone.
  • why must you make people believe in something were there is no factual evidence. if you want to beleive in a non-logical way thats fine but dont force your thoughts on everyone else. if gods real then people will find him themselves. read THE GOD DELUSION by Richard Dawkins. if your religious surely reading it and then still being religious after you've read it will make your belief even stronger. please try it.
  • The simple answer is that you can't. Discovering God is a very personal experience, and nobody can be forced into such an experience. To do so would go against our God-given right of freewill.
  • Show them God. Of course, you would have to produce some very convincing proof that it was God - this could be difficult in some cases. For instance, you could have to proove them that they are not dreaming in the moment where they see God. Some non-believers would also need to touch God. For some people, a couple of rabbits from the Precambrian would be sufficient. On the other hand, if God just exists in you imagination, you could ask yourself why you believe in God.
  • You can't, every idiot that trys to get me to talk to invisible people I tend to cuss them out over their stupidity.
  • First let's clarify a thing or two. Is this person a real non-believer or just a non-believer in your God. The distinction being if he BELIEVES that there is no god, then he/she IS a believer... just not in your beliefs and/or god. In this case the person cannot and should not be forced to your beliefs by anything other than concrete proof in your god. Have God appear in front of this person, show some I.D. and that ought to do the trick. If this person is a non-believer in that they haven't made a decision yet (an agnostic) then proof of your God could come from anywhere... For example, by you showing how your belief has enrichened your life or showing how your belief has helped others. Of course the introduction to God and the I.D. thing still tops everything. Hope this helps.
  • probably one of the only ways to maybe change a non-believers mind about god is to tell them about the book of revelations. show someone the warning signs god gave us for the apocolypse, all but just a few are coming true, false massiahs people claiming to be the second comming of jesus, wars, natural disasters in random parts of the world where they never happend before thanks to global warming, people will start getting a little worried when the government starts demanding the micro chip implant, because it is often considered the mark of the beast mentioned in the book of revelations, you will not be able to purchase anything if you do not have this chip, and in the bible it says if you do not posses the mark you will not be able to buy food..let the non believers be the judge, that micro chip is already being used on people who donate them self to test these kinds of things, i wouldn't fret about non believers just worry about yourself.
  • Witnessing a miracle?! ;-)
  • God gives faith..without faith the blind will remain blind no matter how hard they try to see or try not to see. if God wills, the blind will see , no matter how hard they try to stay blind or try not to see. as a believer..our job is to share our beliefs, in love, to others...it is not our job "to ram it down "peoples throats. nor is it our job to "convert" nor "convince",nor "coerce", nor "condemn". we should hate sin but love the sinner. we are all sinners and but by the grace of God, go i. it is Gods domain to save souls. even if noone ever witnessed or preached to another human being, ever. God would still touch peoples hearts.
  • only god can put it in their hearts but i suggest showing them verses in the bible.
  • I don't think it's possible, as there is no physical evidence...
  • the same way a non-believer convinces a believer that God does not exist.
  • Depends on why they don't believe. Someone who's never been exposed to your religion might need to read the bible. People who aren't sure might need some sort of proof or miracle. People who deny the existance of god aren't going to convert, short of direct contact with a god. And those that have left the faith are either weakened and will return, or are strengthened and will not. No matter what you ask me, no matter what scriptures you read, or "miracles" occur, I will never belive.
  • We can only seed plant. God does the increase. How beautiful it is to see a non-believer come to know God through Jesus Christ!
  • You convince people, (non-believer or believer) by your own ways. Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. To all non-believers: Please don't blame those who try to convince you that God exists. Because the feeling is so good that he/she wants to share it with you so that you'd be saved. I know it would annoy you, because it annoyed me before, but when i actually felt God's presence, i want to pass it but it is very very hard. My true experience and proof is that i have smoked for more than 15 yrs and when i felt God's presence, i felt like throwing up when i think about smoking - right that instance. Tears would just roll down when it happens to you and you would feel very sad for those who are losing out and still in denial.
  • Proof. http://godisimaginary.com/ Here's one: Show me your god. Or- Heal an Amputee.
  • A rational argument along with some proof.
  • Here's a link that explains how to be an effective witness, but understand that only the Holy Spirit can convince a non-believer. Your job, as a christian, is to tell the gospel message of salvation and then leave the convincing to the Holy Spirit. You are not responsible of someone you witnessed to does not believe, you are only repsonsible for sharing the message. http://www.gotquestions.org/effective-witness.html
  • You can't. They've made a wilful decision that even God has promised to honor.
  • you can't. only God can
  • Pray about it and trust that God will reveal Himself in the most mysterious ways :)
  • You can't.
  • 8-27-2017 [2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.] Ambassadors, not peddlers. We preach the gospel, but we are not responsible to persuade anybody to believe it.
    • Jewels Vern
When you speak the word of God, God's people recognize and follow. You don't preach to convince them, you preach to identify the unbelievers.
  • A non-believer has to read the Bible with an "open-mind" to know God. I would suggest the authorized KJV. Newer versions are altered. The more you know Him, the more you will adapt to the Bible. Also, praying for guidance and knowledge will have a non-believer on the right track. Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

Jenny...I respect your response, but in these times, we can dispense with " Olde English"...To have an open mind on scripture try comparing scriptures from BIBLEGAREWAY.COM....yOU WILL FIND THAT ALL THE TRANSLATIONS COME OUT THE SAME...WITH THE SAME MEANING...
    • pugwashjw65
      I meant " Biblegateway.com...
    • Jenny The Great ⭐
Sorry pug, but newer versions go in the garbage as far as I'm concerned. BTW, the Bible quote I added in my answer is from Biblegateway.com: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+33%3A3&version=KJV
  • How do you know that THE TAXATION DEPARTMENT EXISTS? Have you seen it? Do you know the people? Who sets the rules? You know by its EFFECTS...like the wind...can't see it, can feel it. God HAS to exist by the sheer complexity of life...and the fact that he left us his instruction book...On our origins... (Genesis 1:26) Then God said:
  • Until someone opens their heart to the truth within there will be no experience Of God within themselves...... A closed mind keeps the door to enlightenment closed...
  • Until someone opens their heart to the truth within there will be no experience Of God within themselves...... A closed mind keeps the door to enlightenment closed...
  • Well you could be mistaken by having such an expectation, looking for some spectacular miracle, to convince you. This is contrary to the apostle
  • Gathered are plenty of people convinced they have all the solutions, mostly liberal democraps. I wouldn't waste a minute with them!
  • You can't. Either a person has faith or they don't.
  • Provide evidence
  • Convincing implies you think you know something about God, and that you can discern a "believer" from a non-believer. Wow! Mother Theresa was too busy loving the lowliest of creatures to entertain such a question. Follow her lead.
  • It is best to first ask just what the person DOES believe in...respect for their opinion makes them more amendable to different ideas,,,and only ONE can be correct... The only sure answer is in the Bible...and the Bible has to be proved to them...via its prophecies...600 in all and none wrong..
    • pipey
The prophecies in the Bible fall into these general categories: 1) Things that are certain to happen - "there will be wars and rumors of war." 2) Things that are true in general and aren't prophecies at all. 3) Stories that were written specifically to make it sound like prophecy was being fulfilled - many of the gospel stories fall under that category. 4) Passages that were retroactively called prophecy when they were never intended that way, such as passages from various psalms. There are plenty of prophecies that never came true, some of which can't possibly come true in the future because the world isn't like that any more. Isaiah 52:1 - there are plenty of uncircumcised people who have entered Jerusalem. Ezekiel 30 - Nebuchadnezzar never destroyed Egypt. Isaiah 17 - Damascus has never been a heap of ruins.
  • Let him be when the time is right his heart will open to a higher realization until then let him be...
  • you cant, only god can convince him
  • Make sure that non-believer does not know much about science.
  • Easy. Just get the relevant god to do some more of her/his magic tricks from the corresponding ancient religious test in order that the supernatural power can be verified by video and independent observers.
  • Objective, empirical evidence. It's something believers have never been able to offer.
  • Well if they don’t believe in the Bible we can use nature which is Gods creation. Also there are some text that mentions science and it’s true the Bible doesn’t mention a lot of science but whenever the Bible does mention it it’s 100% true.
  • I'll tell you exactly how I can convince a non-believer that God exists because I've done this before when I was down and out and a drug addict I learned all about atheism and Satanism. I learned all about where the satanists hang out and about deep woods BBQs with the satanists and I got three atheists to go with me I took them to a satanic deep woods BBQ and at about midnight when a 13 ft tall demon stepped out of the fire in full view of everybody having been associated with Satan I politely asked the demon give these three atheists a ride! The demon happily obliged and picked the three atheists off the ground way into the air and carried them around in circles and played with them in the air for about 5 minutes he didn't hurt them in the very least. All the while the atheist cried and screamed for their mommy and they literally defecated their pants. When the demon set them down on the ground unharmed they ran down the path crying literally crying for their mommy! The last I heard of the three atheists went to a Catholic Church where they grew up and now they're believing members of the Catholic Church. God doesn't do parlor tricks but Satan and his demons do if I can show you Satan and his demons and get you to believe in them you're going to automatically believe in the god that created them. Anytime you're ready for a deep wood satanic barbecue please by all means contact me. Be respectful of the demon that usually shows up at those deep woods BBQ you won't have any trouble. If you don't believe your own two eyes just politely ask the demon pick me up in the air give me a ride. Demons love to do parlor tricks. After you get to float around in the air in the middle of the deep woods you too maybe come a believer in God's😈 😇. Quite an interesting State of affairs both the devil and the demons and the gods and the angels were originally close Brothers
    • pipey
You were definitely high when you hallucinated that.
  • you certainly dont nag or argue...leave it up to the person to work it out
  • I never try to convince any one about any religion.
