The whole song is random junk phrases, like many of their songs. Trying to analyze will, at best, blow your interpretation breaker.

Can you state some of their other nonsensical lyrics? Maybe there is a better explanation.

Maybe it was a misheard lyric they just decided to go with - some kind of typo . . . "the topic of Sir Galahad" might actually make sense. :-/

I often pondered the meaning of these lyrics. The beginning part regarding people sharing the gift of gab and taking the perfect prize from the shelf makes sense as you can sometimes garner something worthwhile from here-to-fore unrecognized sources which leads to the Oz line...the Tin Man had a heart but had to be shown he had it all the while. Cause never was the reason for the evening - a purpose was there, not just "cause". The Sir Galahad line is a bit dodgy...I also wonder if they meant "topic". However, if you look at the definition of "tropic", it refers to parallels - perhaps it is a parallel between the Tin Man and Sir Galahad - both were chivilrous and gentle. It was the way they both were without trying.... Just a thought
