One word ... Politicians.
-
I think that happened when our government decided to make it a law that you must fence your pool separate from the house or yard fencing already there just to keep your neighbours kids from drowning in it. Seemed silly to me when I have a huge river that is unfenced on one side of me and the ocean on the other!! Besides, what right does my neighbours kids have to be in my yard unsupervised anyway? Where are their parents? This should be a common sense thing.

The whole pool & fence answer is spot on. You have to think that the lawyers have so polluted our courts that there is no common sense. How about the guy who was breaking into the house & fell through the sky light. He sued for damages due to a faulty sky-light. HE WAS A CRIMINAL for GOD's sake. Judges, Lawyers & yes Politicians prove that common sense is a jurassic concept

Too many options, too many choices. It seems we can be exposed to just about anything these days. That's the general feeling I get from your question.

Blame the television, that thing is the root of all evil!!
-
I don't..it is just not very common! :)
-
If you think common sense is lost and forgotten, imagine how rare uncommon sense is today!
-
To have common sense, you must first be common! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Just take a look at the current leaders of the USA and the bleak choices of future leaders that we have chosen.

As modern technology dominates the daily life more and more, common sense gets lost a little by little year after year. That is what I have observed in urban life in India. Nearly 90% of India's population lives in villages where people have good common sense.
