St. Ives medicated apricot scrub used twice a day works wonders. I used to have really bad skin but since I started using it, it has looked great. You can get it at Longs Drugs or most any other drug store in the skin care section.

The first thing you need to look at is your diet. I read a newspaper report a few years ago that said in cultures where no processed food (such as white flour based and refined products) are eaten, acne is almost unheard of. I thought I'd give this a bash and swapped white bread for wholemeal, white rice for brown, white pasta for buckwheat, and cut out things like ready meals and fast food. Within two months I'd noticed such a big difference I'd go so far as to almost call it miraculous. Its also worth making sure you keep your water consumption high (6-8 glasses a day, spread out evenly) and eating a variety of veg to get vitamins to help your skin to repair and renew and keep it hydrated and plumped up, which will make it look clearer. If you wear make-up, clean it off every night, and try to have one or two make up free days a week. Don't waste your time and money on huge amounts of harsh chemical filled products that promise miracles, they often do more harm than good by stripping the skin of natural oils and stimul;ating it to produce more. Stick to a simple cleansing and light moisturising regime and keep tea tree oil handy to dab on individual spots and blemishes. Don't smoke, and avoid smoky environments, its THE WORST thing you can do for your skin.

This comes from an expert at a cosmetics development company: Three things to do to make your skin look great: 1. Sleep 2. Drink lots of water 3. Eat salmon every day (for the Omega 3 oils I assume.) After that, all face creams are more or less created equally. However, packaging does make a difference. For products that have ingredients that can lose effectivity as in most face creams, an open jar package provides too much exposure to light, air and bacteria from your hands. Tubes are better, although they look less elegant.

I had medium to bad acne about two years ago and it made my skin suffer a lot. My skin is now pretty clear, soft and healthy with hardly any outbreaks. Now to keep my skin clear i use a face scrub. NOw don't listen to these people who use these expensive face scrubs, baking soda, yes baking soda is the best. It may sound stupid but it is a lot more effective than other facial scrubs. By adding a lot of soap to a small amount of baking soda and a bit of water you gently rub it arround the face. Do this every morning and your face will be v smooth.

In addition to all these things, try abstaining from caffiene for awhile and taking 10,000 units of beta-carotene daily till it clears up. I would get horrible acne if I drank Coke or too much tea. I went to a Chiropractor who gave me the vitamin A and it really worked. Also, make sure you change your pillowcases at least once a week and wash hair at least once or twice a week.

Quit eating junk food... refined flour, refined sugar, corn syrup (any type of sugar, basically) and drink at least sixtyfour ounces of water per day. I started the Atkins diet six weeks ago, and ever since I cut all the sugar and flour out of my diet my skin has been crystal clear and baby soft (I was prone to breakouts prior to changing my diet, and how!). For future reference, you can't make your skin LOOK clearer. You have to MAKE it clearer.
