  • Whoever spent the money.
  • You, you paid for it.
  • That you would be concerned about this calls into question your use of the word "partner". Who cares? It's a dinner bill, not the rent. Is this seriously something y'all argue about?
  • The partner who paid....then I would run for my life because the person has no BALLS!!!!
  • The one that paid for it gets the refund, it's the money that your talking about here.
  • What would it matter? If it were me I dont think i would even think of that. If I did though I suppose that I would let him keep it since he offered it anyhow.
  • Yer partner, but dont make a big deal out of it
  • S/he who pays gets the refund....otherwise, it would not be a refund it would be a hush money.... But like Loughman said, who cares, really? Your dinner was free either way...
  • This sounds really petty, and I'm surprised one can have a partner/friend with your attitude. Your partner paid for the meal, and instead of the restaurant knocking it off the tab, they gave you your partner's money back? Cmon, gimme a break. You actually feel like your friends cash is yours to keep; did you offer it back and he said no? Partner keeps his money for friendships sake, and don't be petty about it. Next time you pick up the tab...friendship is a mutual thing. Its hard to find a good friend, and one shouldn't take it for granted.
  • If your partner paid for it, the refund should be theirs. Just because there was junk in your soup doesn't mean you should earn something from the event. Refunding the money was the restaurant's way of apologizing and pacifying you.
  • I want to know what this "lump of junk" consisted of and why you proceeded to eat anything else there.
  • The person who paid for it, of course.
  • your partner - but why not just go to the bar and buy yourselves a drink and forget it
  • whoever is paying the bill should get the money.
  • It belongs to the one who paid. He may be too embarrassed to take it since he did not want to complain. I usually leave it up to the host to complain or not because it is their buck.
  • The person paying for the meal is the one who should receive the refund...this is only proper. Next time YOU pay for the meal...and if there is junk in the food...YOU can have the refund. This is a rather strange question...I mean come on..common sense...YOU were the Guest on this fateful evening.
