If I just need parts, I go to http://www.geeks.com. If I need support and have a warranty, I would call the manufacturer. If I need support and don't have a warranty, I'd go to Google, and then to these silly answer sites. :)

With over 25 years of experience with working with all kinds of computers, I don't have to go any further than myself. I have a whole bookcase filled with books that give trouble shooting answers for PCs, Macs, and Linux platforms.

I usually look for answers on the internet first. Then I may call a friend. Finally, if it is hardware problem, I have a technician that is very good.

I go to myself, because I have taught myself much about computer repair/hardware/software installing and upgrading. I even opened up my own hobby/business of refurbishing and reselling computers. I have saved my own self hundreds of dollars, just by self on-the-job-training. So, whenever I have a computer problem, unless it is a serious motherboard issue, I just go look at myself in the mirror and say, "self, fix your computer!" And, so far, so good!
-
I fix it myself. What else. I know that others will charge me for repairing, but why to waste money, if you can learn how to fix it by yourself. Get to know the problem, Get to know your machine, Analyze and compare, and voila! The whole day got spent, but atleast the PC works again. But if you have Mac and it gets broken, the nightmare will begin, .. the world, .. will end...
-
My sister. Her work involves a lot of handling problems about computer stuff so I get a lot of help... for free :)
-
My brother, he's really good with computers (I'm lucky, he saves me alot of money)
-
Me. If it's a problem with a component I just bought (like a router) then I call the company's tech support. I hate calling for help (mostly because of the wait times and language barriers), but sometimes it's necessary. I also find that internet forums (found through google searches) are very helpful for odd problems. Like when my laptop was freezing every 30 seconds and dell tech support was ZERO help, a forum I found gave me the answer within 20 seconds.

i honestly start praying LOL

Fix it myself

We use a company in Homewood, Illinois by the name of Homewood Computer Exchange. We had had satisfactory work done by their techicians, and they stand behind the work that they do with no hesistancy. Their number is 708 799 5300 and the address is: 18243 Harwood Ave., Homewood, Illinois 60430. The wonderful technician's name is Steve. Hope this helps you.

There is a free tech. help online I use techguy.org. If they don't help me and I am desperate I use www.plumchoice.com. It's not free online help, but they are very knowledgeable and efficient. If we are absolutely stuck we use plumchoice.com.
-
No one, I'm a stubborn one, except when I couldn't get this computer running I took it to my school's computer techs, free and experienced.
-
i wiil solve the problem myself. because i am the computer student.
-
It depends on the problem ... you may want to bookmark this site techguy.org. Depending on your operating system and a browser you use you can post your question on the Forum.' Windows Vista has Forum. Firefox has Forum. Explorer has Forum. Just google them, and register when you find a right one. If you want e-mail me or PM, I'll give you a link. You last resort is to use www.plumchoice.com. Example of using Plumchoice: I could not perform a System Restore on my computer. It turned out a virus in that very file tha neither anti-virus program could get rid of it. Plumchoice.com takes over your computer, and you watch them manipulating inside your computer... they deleted this virus in system restore file.

I worked in electronics a few years ago and have installed all kinds of hardware inside computers. So 90% of the time I fix problems myself, the rest I take to a computer store I use regularly. Saves a lot of money.

-
I go to myself first. If I get stumped (it has happened) I ask a friend who is a bigger geek than I am. If he can't figure it out, I go online. So far I've taken care of our computers, but someday, I'll get too brain dead, then I'll just stop using the darn things.
-
Puter Busters!
-
Depending on what problem it is, I'll fix it myself but if it's beyond me I go to my friend, the walking left brain.

Depends what the problem is ... I may reinstall a program that doesn't perform, or do System Restore, or use FixYa.com website for troubleshooting. One time I could not get rid of the virus in my System Restore file and I employed Plumchoice.com. They are not free, but they solved my problem. I was desperate.
