I think that "deuce" in this context is a euphemism for "devil". Dates from a time when such language was too coarse to write in polite books, and has been taken up literally.

Anoname NOBODY anywhere says, "what the shit". (unless you want to lie) The substitute word's meaning doesn't have to be relevant. It just sounded good as a substitute. -

Anoname "Cut loose like a deuce" in that song. "Another roller in the night" would suggest playing dice that came up snake eyes. Remake was "Revved up like a deuce" which is commonly misheard as "wrapped up like a douche".
