Anyone who did as far as Clinton being part Roma/Gypsy would come off as racist. People in general would shy away from anyone who made it an issue. It would've made the choice of siding with Republicans even more unappealing. Most politicians know into today's climate it's better to keep their bigoted beliefs in the closet. Kerry is not responsible for his ancestors. If they pulled the ancestor card then that would've opened the Bush Family open to scrutiny. They wouldn't survive that microscope. One of Bush's ancestors was supposedly a supporter of Nazi Germany. There was some other stuff too. I'd have to look it up. Even with that being said George and G-Dub aren't responsible for their ancestors either.

1) It is somewhat annoying to see Romani people being put in the same level as opium smugglers in this question... 2) I think the difference with Obama is that the father of Obama was Kenyan, his step father was Indonesian and he grew up partly in Indonesia himself. It concerns the person Obama himself or those who educated him. So it was possible to ask oneself if those "Un-American influences" could have consequences on Obama himself. What happened with remote ancestors is totally irrelevant.

I have paid to get his ancestry to demonstrate how easy it is to destroy a persons reputation without proper information. Senator John Kerry's Ancestry Benedikt Kohn, the great-grandfather of Senator John Kerry, was born about 1824 in southern Moravia. Benedikt was successful as a master brewer of beer. In 1868, after the death of his first wife, he moved to Bennisch (today called Benesov) and married Mathilde Frankel Kohn. Benedikt and Mathilde Kohn were two of the only 27 Jews living in Bennisch, which is listed as having a total population of 4,200, in 1880. Soon after Benedikt died in 1876, Mathilde moved to Vienna with her children Ida (7), Friedrich "Fritz" (3) and Otto (newborn). Fritz Kohn/Fred Kerry (Grandfather) Fritz and Otto excelled in their studies in Vienna. However, like other Jews, they suffered greatly from the anti-Semitism that prevailed in Europe at this time.
